Cervical Cerclage.

Have any of you ladies had a cervical cerclage before? My doctors are considering having me do one since I have had a "threatened abortion" twice with this pregnancy. I am 20w2d and I had a LEEP last year due to cervical cancer, so my cervix is rather short now. I have an appointment on April 2nd to talk to a specialist. It makes me nervous to have my cervix basically sewn shut but I prefer that over losing my son. Would I have to have a c-section or will they allow me to have a natural birth?

I just had mine on Thursday.I went to the doctor for my weekly cervical exam and they seen that my cervix started shorten & called for an emergency surgery to have the cerclage placed. So I have that & I'm also taking the makena progesterone shots.I'm just trying to relax and take it easy.Good Luck ladies!

My sister had one due to a Leap procedure as well and a cervix was short. She is now 38 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy. She was nervous and on bed rest as well but she has been off for 2 mnth +. This procedure will save your babies life and keep him in there.

I have one placed due to two previous losses. It was initially prophylactic and when they went in I was starting to open. Plus I am having twins. I just didn't want to take any chances. I can't feel it and it didn't take long. But I am on bed rest and pelvic rest. But good luck.
