road trip at 33 weeks

Have any of you traveled in car in your 3rd trimester?
I am going on a 12 hour car ride and idk what are some things I should do during the ride to make sure I don't go into labor due to sitting down for so long.

Get some compression socks before you leave and be sure to wear them on the drive. I should have, but didn't at 32 weeks for a 14 hour drive each way alone. Now I am paying for it as my feet and ankles are in so much pain from edema from the long drive. Once I got to my destination, I was able to get some relief, but then it was time to come back and it's been a few days and they don't seem to be getting any better. Drink extra water and elevate your feet when ever possible. Try to keep your sodium intake down.

I had been in a trip at 33 weeks with my first son. A week later (34) he was born! Got my water broken and 4 hours later he was out. Good luck, remember to keep yourself hydrated. Have a safe trip!

Stop frequently to walk around, you do not want to get any blood clots and have to be put on blood thinners while pregnant. Good luck and be careful.

Don't sit up straight for too long because it puts too much pressure on the femoral arteries in your legs, which are huge major arteries.

I'm 32w,4d and we heading to Destin, FL in the morning which is a 7 1/2 hour trip for us. My dr said that it was ok as long as we made stops so that I could stretch my legs. She also told me to wiggle my feet around a lot. I plan on taking a pillow to sit on so I can be as comfortable as possible.

I'll be doing this same thing 4th of July weekend, I'll be 34 weeks. My doctor told me to stop every 2 hours or so and get out to stretch for about 10 -15 minutes. Make sure you have plenty of water and a hospital bag just in case something happens. Hope your trip and pregnancy go well :)

Leave enough space in the car to move your seat around, both to incline the seat and give your legs more space. Frequent stops to stretch, try to keep yourself occupied so you don't focus on the time

Make sure you keep moving your legs as much as possible to keep blood flow to them!
