too much intervention!!!

I keep reading of ladies being induced at 39 weeks!! What ever happened to letting mother nature do her job? Are doctors pushing for the inductions? A lot of ladies sound sad about it, but dont tou have a choice? Its your body, dont let a doctor talk you into something you are uncomfortable with... justt curious why so much intervention?

I've  read the doing/using/drinking  stuff will actually give u a longer labour with the chance of affecting baby or ur self. Im soooo ready to meet my baby but totaly want to wait for her to be ready also. I wanted baby to be born this weekend so dad could see her before he left yo work and nada so we will continue to wait for her to say its time:)

I noticed that as well. I find it selfish because the baby has a lot more growing and developing in those last few weeks some people don't understand that though.

Im sure the drs have good reasons for the inductions. What I don't understand is seeing so many posts from women wanting to be induced or induce themselves simply bcs they are tired of being pregnant. I am too but part of being a mom is sacrifice & this is only the beginning. As eager as I am to meet him, I'd never try to rush my baby out for my own selfish reasons.

Ive stopped being able to properly care for myself due to severe prenatal depression. . I do not want to be induced but there are many reasons why it is best for me and baby and I trust that my doctor is correct in choosing to induce me . Everyone has a different reason but most don't want to induce it just comes down to what is healthier for mom and baby

My doctor wants to induce at 39 weeks. I'm currently 37+3. I really hope I won't have to be. The reason behind it is that my baby is smaller than most. (She's below the 10 percentile) so if she doesn't grow much, she would benefit more from being outside than inside at 39 weeks. (According to the doctor) So, for now, I have been doing fetal monitoring and fluid level checks 2 times a week.
According to the monitoring, I've been having contractions like crazy (most I haven't been feeling. But I feel the big ones for sure.)
So, I'm crossing my fingers that she makes her debut naturally.

I'm being induced at 38 weeks + 1 day cause my baby needs surgery to remove a lump on her tummy she could also have 1 of 3 syndromes and needs to be tested. With my first baby I wasn't induced so I'm a little nervous this time round

I am high risk so I do not have a choice. My doctors are specialist so they would never push for anything unless the babies health was at risk. Furthermore, I am in complete control of my preganacy and given my history I feel blessed to make it to 39 weeks. Every one situations are different... And maybe the joy you hear from individuals are happiness to make it to the end without losing their child.

I also see a lot of women asking/hoping to be induced... but our midwife explained how the labour/delivery is much harder when induced, and that naturally the baby will come when both mother and baby are ready, in other words, at best possible time for both. I do understand how it can be needed in some cases, but if not, i'd try avoid it. A normal pregnancy is between 37 and 42 weeks. Unless my gynaecologist sees any problems, i'm just gonna accept all the uncomfortabelness until my baby and body say it's time lol.

I'm high risk due to age and blood pressure but luckily my bp has been under control. I will be 38 weeks on Tuesday and my dr hasn't mentioned anything about inducing labor although baby weighs 7 1/2 pounds at this point. I plan to let nature take it's course. It's been a blessing to have had a good and healthy pregnancy thus far.

Since I started seeing the doctor I'm with, she told me from the get go that she induces all of the patients at 39 weeks, because she is a one person practice so by inducing, it's like a way of making sure she will be there I guess. I have gone naturally into labor with my two previous pregnancies, even with my previous where I developed preeclampsia at the end of my pregnancy. I am currently 37 weeks and I'm hoping I go into labor all by myself again because I do not want to be induced, especially after reading that most inductions end up in c-sections. I definitely don't want a c-section unless it's super necessary of course.

I saw that too. I think most of them are being induced prior to their due dates because of health risks.. like the mom having high blood pressure or gestational diabetes, etc. My doctor only mentioned about inducing me if I go past 41 weeks, which of course, also depending on my health and my baby.
