Why would a obgyn make you wait till your 28 weeks or more to see her?

Hi ladies I'm alittle confused atm. I'm 23 weeks pregnant with my third and I have been told my OB won't take me till I'm 28 weeks or more. With my first two I was 20 weeks and just under 20 weeks and I was beening see by her.
Is this normal?

I didn't start seeing a doctor until I was almost 30 weeks they asked me why I waited but I told them my dad had just passed n not long before that both my grandparents and not long after I found out I was pregnant my husband got locked up in the county jail n ended up staying 20 something days n was working his fines off it wasn't until he got out and started asking questions about baby's health I started to get motivated n started setting up my Dr appt also I thought they drug test u n everything your first visit anyway?

As long AA you're getting all your tests/scans, and they're all fine, I don't suppose it matters if you don't see her till 28w.  I'm 36w and have never seen an OB, i just see my midwife.

The less you see her the better but at least she needs to see you for an initial visit to determine everything is good and then you can see her less while you know all is well.

That is not right. A lot can happen before 28 weeks. With one of my pregnancies, I had no insurance and waited till week 20. This even made the doctors suspicious and they ordered a drug test on my baby's urine at birth to make sure I wasn't on drugs. That is how weird it was to the docs for me not to show up till week 20.

I would say the less you have to see a Dr. The better! Means everything is fine! Don't worry! I use to think the same thing but now I have to see the Dr. More often because of an issue I wish I didn't have!!! So just be at ease everything is fine and you and your baby are healthy :)

That seems very odd to me , pre eclampsia can be fetal and very dangerous to you & the baby. I would get to the hositpol asap for them to screen you. I started seeing my GYN at 8 weeks and still seeing her & also a high risk doctor to monitor me. I would be so nervous just walking around not seeing any doctors. If I was you I would push to see a GYN asap or go to the hositpal and see a GYN their. Signs of pre eclampsia is nothing to be played with!
Good luck hope this helps!

I'm pretty sure I haven't missed about screening. I've had all my ultrasounds and I've had one blood test done. I chose not to do the one test I forget the name tho.

I'm in Canada Ontario. I'm being seen by my family dr who does my BP urine and fetal heart beat. My biggest concern is now I could have pre-eclampsia. The last two times I've seen my dr there's protein in my urine and my BP has been rising and I also been having problems breathing just before I got pregnant and I'm now on two puffers. I asked for another OB so as far as I know a referral has been sent off. I go back This week to check on my BP. I haven't gotten any testing done tho to find out if I have per- eclampsia but I know having your BP rising and protein showing could be the start of it.

I would have to say no....my Ob Gyn likes for the first visit to be at 8 weeks then the normal monthly check ups. I've never heard waiting until the 3rd trimester to see the doctor bc there is so much that could happen before that. My doctor always checks the urine and does regular vital signs just to make sure everything is okay! I think i would definitely find a new doctor. Where are you? This is how most doctors do in the U.S. at least.

That seems extremely odd. Every OB I've ever met see women every month starting at 8 weeks and then around 35 weeks will start seeing women every week until they give birth.
