Induction at 39weeks

Soo my doctor said if I dont go into labor on my own by 38 weeks they will have to schedule an induction for Aug 10 which I will be 39 weeks exactly...I am 50% effaced & 1-2 cm dilated & I believe my son is at a -2 station this is my 4th baby & normally I would have been more dilated by now...but anyways I much rather go into labor on my own but idk what else to do & next week at 37wks I will be getting a membrane sweep so hopefully that kick starts things & sex is out of the question because I have been on pelvic rest since week 20 due to complications...sooo any advice from you ladies would be real helpful thanks mommies

Is there a medical reason that you would need to be induced before your due date? If not, tell your doctor you'd like to wait and see if baby comes on his/her own.
