There are other things they can give you earlier in your labor, if you want it. Demerol is one that I know of. Talking to your doctor will be good and even talking to an anesthesiologist at the hospital that you are delivering at, is a good idea as well.
Good for you! I have 7 kids and never had a birth plan with any of mine. I just always wanted to keep an open mind. In my experience, most people that have bad birthing experiences, do so because things just didn't go the way they planned. So to me, planning is good, but just keep an open mind and do what you feel comfortable with.
Good luck!
There's morphine and demerol, those two are the most popular iv drugs to use for pain management.
I'm trying to keep an open mind, but i also know that i want my delivery to go as much like id like it to. I really dont want pain meds, i want to go as natural as possible but i also know that that idea doesnt always work. I am wanting to say absolutely no epidural, i do not what so ever like the idea of a needle being put in my back, that scares me honestly, so no matter what i would really like to stick to my guns with that part but everything else i am trying to be open minded.
This is my first pregnancy so im still figuring all my options
Good for u! I too was alil afraid of getting an epidural, but once I actually went into labor I didn't even feel them put it in my back. I was begging for it. N with this pregnancy I will get one too. When I went into labor my cramps were so bad I was throwing up. The epidural took away my pain n actually allowed me to rest a bit. That's great that u want to do it natural, but definitely keep an opened mind, cuz when u go into labor u might be begging for it too. Lol. Everyone is different though.
Sadies, it’s so good to hear that you’re keeping an open mind as every pregnancy and birth is different, and it’s also good to hear that your goal is to have a natural birth. Surround yourself w/ support persons and know that we are here to support any choice you make and can’t wait to hear your beautiful birth story.
We are here cheering you on sister!
