Twin Stroller

Hi ladies!

I know there are several of us expecting twins...I wanted to share some information I found today that I am kinda excited about..

I found this stroller called the Baby Trend Snap N Go Double.  It's basically a frame that will allow you to fit a variety of car seats into it and use it as a stroller.  I know...most strollers do that BUT if you look at many of the strollers, they will only allow you to put 1 INFANT seat in them, and one larger child.  I looked at the twin Peg Perego, the BOB dualie with adapter, and others...but most of them can only do one car seat at a time.  The Snap N Go double will hold two, and it's less than $100.  It has gotten great reviews too...

Just thought I would share...let me know if anyone gets any other good twin finds!

Jenn

I just made my big twin stroller purchase. I haven't received yet so I hope it's right!! Man are these things expensive and have about 100 conflicting reviews. My friend gave me her double snap n go (yeah!) for the infant seats. We rodeo a lot so the all-terrain mobility of a jogger is important to me. But I also really want something maneauverable, lighter than 45 pouinds (!), relatively compact, with good storage, food trays (hah!), comfort and clearnace for kids, and that fits through a standard doorway. Well this is apparently does not exist yet. I have read many dissappointing reviews about the BOB, and man is that thing huge!!! Was decidin g betwee the Mountain Buggy and Valco Tri Mode (stroller tot he stars apparently). So these are a cool $700 and no where on Craigslist (of course). Finally found a something that fits the bill (I hope). Apparently it will take 2 months to arrive (out of Australia I think)... Tike Tech CityX3 Double. Retails for $420 and meets all the requirements plus excellent sun shades and very good customer reviews. Also I learned that if you get a stroller with a bumper bar you can order the siena tray to store drinks and snacks on the bar. It also has in seat pockets for children's things. Parent double cup holder is $20 extra. I believe this stroller does fit an infant seat (conversion kit availble), but not sure if it fits 2. Parents also report good room for larger children, so great long-term use (making your investment worth it). Anyway, after all of my research I have reached the conclusion that if someone could get all of the desired feastures together for a twin stroller they could make a mint. You won't find these at the usual stores of course to "try on" so to speak. Twin shopping is an online adventure. Wish me luck that I invested in the right one! Good luck to all of you in the search for the perfect "fit".

Yeah, the discount is great -- we got it on the mattresses and Burlington did it for the cribs...good stuff!  Every bit counts!

btw- thanks on the heads up on the multiple discounts.  I thought it was 10% of your entire purchase at Babies R Us as long as purchase the two items at the same time.  I think we are getting the cribs from there so that will be a great discount to use.

So I just got mine in the mail- I got the Chicco Dual Stroller that carries two car seats (Key Fit 30).  The stroller cost $299.00 but I got it at Bed Bath & Beyond and used my 20% coupon = $239.00, the car seats on the other hand are $179.00 each.  I looked at both in consumer reports and also looked at the multiple web log and this what a lot of the multiple moms recommended.  I won't be using it till December so I don't know how it really feels.

There is a new BOB called the Navigator that will take 2 infant seats too, but they have to be a specific kind.  I was looking at a particular car seat that will allow for a 4 pound baby (the usual minimum is 5 pounds) in case our little ones come home preemie and small.....

Shopping is fun...but so many things they need!!!!

I got the duo glide, I actually got it used from craigslist.  It came with two bucket seats and four bases so I got a great deal but I hope we get more use out of it then 18 months! I never thought about it getting heavy but we also got a side by side jogging stroller for outdoor activities like walking and zoo trips ect. The bob is highly recommended but its SOO pricey!! If you google the graco duo you will see it has really great reviews.  :-)

YES, I think you are on the right track!  The duo glide that we have holds to infant seats too, but my friend who had twins had it until they were around 18 months or so and this it was almost impossible for her to push at the zoo, she then switched to a side by side.  I didn't listen to her, bought one and couldn't push my 2.5 year old and infant at the zoo for more than an hour or so before it got to heavy.  I know a lot of people like the Bob.  I spent close to $500 on the Phil and Ted side by side and still didn't like it, so I would go with what you like (and that's practical) vs. what you think looks neat.  Wish I would have done that.  Plus, if you wait you will have many more option for strollers because the babies will be sitting up and won't have to accomodate the carseats, just the kids so then the stroller world really opens up.  Good luck, shopping is a lot of fun!

The only down side to the snap and go is that you are spending an extra $100 for something you only use a few months till they out grow the bucket seats.  I went with a Graco and it works with two buckets it seems like it will be great.  I was tempted by the ease of the snap and go but to me I would rather put $100 towards something else :-)  Take care!!

Thanks for input...I had thought I was on the right path, but it sounds like based on your experience, in fact that is a good way to go!

I am just looking at these ~$300+ strollers and thinking..how do I know what we will want by the time they are 6 months old?!  I do like the double BOB Strollers....

I was surprised that even the dual ones only take 1 infant seat...kind of defeats the purpose if you have twins!!

I would go for the cheaper snap n go, like you mentioned.  With one child and then two children,  I have gone through 2 double strollers (neither I liked) one a very expensive Phil n Ted, the other the graco duo glide.  I have also had 4 single strollers. AND still haven't found the perfect stroller.  I would get something cheap that will go easily with the carseats until you see some others in person, test drive them, put your growing children in them (try to push them with your kids IN them), etc.  Inevitably you will find something, but I think it is best until you are in it to buy something that you love and will be using on a regular basis.  I would hate for you to buy a side by side just to realize your kids to hit each other, or to realize that some of the doubles are so small and you would never get good use out of them, or try to fold it down in line for security at the airport and it takes 45 minutes... I would wait.

Oooh!  Something else I learned...if you go to Babies R Us and ask for the multiples discount, they will give you 20% off the 2nd item you buy (ie buy 2 cribs and get 20% off the second).  Burlington Coat Factory does it too, and we found that if we asked stores, they would honor it even if it wasn't their policy....don't forget to ask for the multiples discount!!  :)
