blood clotting while pregnant?

With my first pregnancy (which was a still birth at full term) they had told me it was because of some kind of blood clot, because when they induced me and my water broke it was just blood and It wouldn't stop which is the reason why I had an emergency c-section. One of the questions I asked them was that, how can I have blood clots and go all the way to 40 weeks? Would the baby last that long if I had blood clots? They never really answered me. Anyways, for this pregnancy they told my aspirin and said that might help thinning my blood and prevent another blood clot, they told me it was safe to take while pregnant. Have any of you experienced anything like this or know anyone that has? I'm currently 18 weeks 5 days pregnant and scared to death of it happening again..

i lost a baby 2 years ago from a blood clot at 16 weeks....i too had my water brake and then just bled and bled...i had an ambulance ride and emergency D&E....i also delivered the baby at home in the toilet...it was very traumatic

i had a bunch of testing done and found out i have factor v leiden which is a blood cloting disease...being preg increases your blood flow and that makes you more likely to clot especially if you have an increased chance

im currently 31 weeks preg and taking heparin (since 6 weeks) and get ultrasounds monthly right now to check on baby...

baby aspirin is a blood thinner and i have heard of women using this during their pregnancy and everything turns out ok

also i have been scared the entire time through this preg and im almost at the point i want the baby out so i can her and know she is ok...its very hard after such an awful loss to enjoy any preg again

My sister in law has a few different hereditary blood disorders and had lost 4 babies before they were diagnosed. She always lost them around the 10 week mark when clots formed in the placenta. With some careful planning she was able to concieve and start some blood thinners from 3 weeks preggo and I now have a beautiful Nephew who just turned one. He was about 5 weeks premmie but only had to spend 1 day in the NUCI ward before coming home. He weighed 6pound something despite being early and did not need any sort of therapy.

I know baby aspirin does work as a blood thinner to help with clotting disorders. I'm not sure about using it while pregnant, my sheet from the OB says not to take aspirin. But then again, I don't have a clotting disorder. I think if your OB/GYN has recommended you use a baby aspirin to thin your blood during pregnancy that it is probably okay. They aren't going to tell you to do anything that would harm your baby if the benefits outweigh the risks. But I do know what it's like to lose your baby and I know that during this pregnancy every little thing has me worried and scared. :(
