Before deciding to stay home we looked into both those options as well. I would go nanny if you can work it out. I think you child will get to experience more in a one on one enviornment. I would start looking now. Where we lived a lot of places had wait lists and the good ones were over 6 months wait, especially for infants since they could only take a certain number. Ultimately we decided against all of that and I quit. You need to make sure you feel comfortable with the person and place and it's going to take time to build a relationship. Good luck it's so hard, but I know people that do it and the kids love their daycare/nanny.
I too am a stay at home mom but also a full time college student. We are fortunate enough to have friends and family that can stay with Phin for the 3 hour chunks that I am at classes and my school has no problems with me bringing a newborn to classes with me. I nurse right in class and don't miss a beat!
I know in the next year or so that we will have to start thinking about professional child care though. I have looked into some nanny-shares that look promising. Basically 2-3 familes all pay for one nanny to watch the children in home. It helps alleviate the cost of paying on your own and it also allows to look into the higer paid, more qualified nannies.
Very true, but you have plenty of time to figure it out, good luck!
we are debating between a day care center or a nanny at the moment....i guess i will know the right situation when i see it, but there are just so many options and it's such a big decision...
Not going to use a day care, I'm a stay at home mom, but just telling you to be careful! I've worked at a daycare before, and been to a couple others...make sure you look up the laws in your area for how many children are allowed per adult too. I had 12 2 year olds to myself and you're not supposed to have more than 6 I think in FL...and before that I had 8 1 year olds, it's not exactly easy watching after so many at a time.
