itchy!!!

WTH is with my itchies??? It's driving me insane! I'm itchy on the back of my arms, my forearms, my calves, the back of my thighs, the top of my stomach, my back....it looks in some places like I have little bug bites, but they're not it's just from me scratching so dang much! Ya know when you shave your legs and you do it too often and get little bumps, that or from a dull razor and you cut yourself in a few little spots where hair is? That's what my legs look like. I thought it may be dry skin, but it doesn't look that way. I thought it may be from a new body wash, but I stopped using it and I'm still itchy. Any advice??? I have hydrocortisone and I don't want to take benadryl. I haven't tried the hydrocortisone yet I just found where I put it, but with how much of me IS itchy I'd go through a tube in three days. (ok I may be over exaggerating on how much I'd use, but I think you get the point.) Anyone else itchy???

just my belly from stretching.
talk to your midwife/OB
you may have a rash or be developing eczema...
and benadryl is fine as long as you can function while taking it.

Yes! You totally describe me as well. Although I'm only itchy on my stomach and extremely itchy on my boobs, it drives me nuts when the itches attack me in public..ugh so stressful! What helps me is the Cocoa Butter cream I got at wal-mart, you should try it! It relieves the itches a little bit and it helps with preventing stretch marks caused by them. Although I'm already full of the stretch marks I still use it and it helps me most of the time!

Yes, But if you have a rash it may be PUPS and the only way to get rid of it is to have your baby.

Talk to your doc, itchiness is pretty common during pregnancy: i had it all through my first and it drove me nuts. Midwife used to tell me to try a coolish oatmeal bath to try to ease it. BUT, there is a liver condition called obstetric cholestasis, that can make you itch all over, particularly the hands and feet, that poses a threat to baby. Best flag it up so they can run some blood tests. If its little spots then its probably PUPS like AllGirls973 said.

p.s I'm not sure anti-histamines or antihistamines help with pregnancy related itching as its not an allergy as such

PUPPs from what I've seen is normally on your stomach. If you haven't had it look up pictures of it, it's not just a few little bumps...I talked to my dr she wasn't worried about it. Hydrocortisone helps.

I get these tiny little bumps when I am in the shower or bath, too.  At first I thought it was my shampoo or bodywash/soap.  I switched to Burts Bees and that seemed to help a good deal.  Last night I took a bath and used the regular body wash and got them again.  They are like little clear bumps and as soon as I run my nails or fingers over them once they pop.  Like little tiny blisters on the hair folicle.  It's really weird but I figured it's just one of those things in pregnancy and luckily they don't last long.  Usually they go away once I'm thoroughly dry.
