Any pre-pregnancy coffee drinkers still drinking coffee? Have you changed the frequency or coffee type (ie black cup of joe versus foamy latte) since becoming pregnant?

Its getting more tempting all the time to drink coffee! But I went cold turkey and am trying to just stay away from it. It may not be true but I believe it had something to do with some miscarriages Ive had in the last year..

The caffeine does in soda too but, there's typically less in a soda than there is in a cup of coffee.

Thanks ladies. Im trying to ween off of it w/ an occassional cup of iced flavored decaf every now and then but then I try to drink more water.....which keeps me in and out of the bathroom. Lol.

Does the caffeine in soda cause the same: dehydration and hike in blood pressure? (I don't like or drink soda. Just curious.)

I used to love coffee.  I don't have as much of a taste for it as before I got pregnant, but when I do I always drink decaf.  Caffeine is not good because it is a stimulant.  It raises blood pressure and can lead to dehydration.  With the amniotic fluid being replaced so often during pregnancy, I imagine drinking regular coffee would need to result in a severe increase in water intake.  Dehydration has it's own set of nasty side effects, so take care.
