Flu shot?

So really curious how you other ladies feel about this. I'm 25 and have never had a flu shot nor have I ever even had the flu. My doctor has really been pushing it at every appt and if I wasn't pregnant then without a question I would not be getting it but he keeps scaring me about how bad it could be for me and baby if I do get the flu. Also I understand that the baby also gets alittle bit of it as well. Ugh I just feel so conflicted. I'll be 38 weeks tmrw and will be getting induced sometime next week. I'm just so terrified if I get this flu shot then I'm going to get the flu and don't want to be sick. Thoughts? Thanks for letting me rant.

The flu shot does not cause the flu. If you get the flu after getting the shot you either had the flu before the shot, it wasn't in your system good when you got it, or you caught a strain they didn't make a vaccine for. I would rather get the shot and know I am trying to prevent myself from getting sick and giving it to my baby. The flu is deadly for infants. It's just like the whooping cough shot. Both are very important. My doctor office didn't even give me a choice they just walked in with both and told me it was time. When I was pregnant with my daughter H1N1 and the regular flu were going around bad and killing pregnant women. I got both shots but still ended up with the flu and had it for 3 weeks while pregnant. It was because they didn't get the right strain that year. If your about to have your baby I wouldn't want to have a chance of getting the flu and then giving it to my baby. I had mine this time and have been around a lot of people with the flu because of where I work and I haven't caught it and I worked next to them. This flu vaccine this year is working. Even my doctor was impressed no one in his office or his patients has caught it.

Get it! I was the same way. I have never had the flu or the shot but I got so I can help protect my child before she is born. I also did not get the flu or get sick after getting it. Hope I helped

I personally think your doctor should let you make your own decisions and not try scaring you into following their opinion. I am also 25 and have made it this far never having had the flu or the injection and have turned it down again for this pregnancy as I would rather give my babies immune system a chance to work on its own. Whatever you decide is whats best dont let anyone pressure you

I personally believe in immunizations for myself and children. Flu shot is just one more thing I can do to keep us from getting sick. I have received a flu shot with my last four kids while pregnant.  It does help to know what a flu shot is. Read up on or ask your doctor how the flu shot is made and what's in them. Might help settle your fears!
