hair probs

I'm pregnant with my first and I usually dye my hair every few months but I heard it isn't safe for baby, are there any safe alternatives if this is true? Also are nail salons okay to go to, I want to go get my nails done soon too. Thanks!

I hate to connect nail salons with my experience, but I really feel it contributed to my last pregnancy ending. Last september, I found out I was expecting. During the last week of September, we had an ultrasound and saw the baby and his/her perfect and sweet heartbeat. On our anniversary in October, my husband sent me to the nail salon. I ended up getting acrylics and remember the fumes in the room being extremely strong. The next day, I started bleeding and cramping. I ended up miscarrying two days after getting my nails done. I have never felt so guilty... maybe it is unconnected, but I have vowed to not get anything done again during this pregnancy.

Coloring your hair is fine but I'd avoid the nail salon.

I have and known several people who color their hair during pregnancy...the problem is they don't know if anything could stem from it so they say to stay away from it. (Chemicals) I personally wouldn't do the nail salon and my midwife agreed. Too many cross contaminations of bacteria. If you know your nail person and trust their hygiene go for it but definitely no walk in place in my opinion.
