Drug Screening on Mom and Newborn

In ILLINOIS are both mom and newborn drug tested? And how? Blood, urine, meconium etc.

If you're doing drugs, you should get some help NOW. Do it for your baby. Your baby deserves the best start and the best life, which is something a drug addict cannot provide.  I live in Illinois, and I don't recall ever being drug tested with my first son.
I honestly hope they do drug test because of you're doing drugs while pregnant, you don't deserve that baby.

Please also remember that any drugs you use are potentially hurting your baby in utero.

I don't know anything about Illinois but if you're currently using drugs recreationally I would err on the side of caution for your child. I have heard that most states *will* test you in labor and if you come up positive they'll test your child. If there are drugs in yall's system CPS can come take your baby away. I don't participate in drugs of any kind but when I went into labor the first thing the hospital did was drug test me. I believe it's standard procedure.

It's my understanding that some OBs test for drugs at every appointment. So, if you have already tested positive I'm sure they keep note of that for CPS.
