Thanx 4 the replies...All that really matters is that he/she is healthy! It would be neat to also have a girl and hopefully I can adapt to that like I did raising my boy. I just always felt so much more comfortable around boys even when babysitting when I was young. It'll be a new challenge for me that's for sure.
It is definitly an old wives tale. It's the same thing as carrying low (boy) or high (girl). My SIL carried high and had a boy (the chinese calender also predicted she would have a girl). My mom had 2 girls, one of us was high the other was low. I know my baby was moving when we did the u/s.
I read that there is no real scientific evidence of predicting the gender of a baby by the heart rate, as a baby's heart rate would vary at different times of day and different days. It depends on if they're sleeping, being active, etc...
If they're moving around a lot, the heart rate would of course be higher, but if they're being still or sleeping, then it would of course be lower.
When I went for my u/s on July 10, I thought I was 8w6d (based on LMP) but I measured 8w3d. He put my conception date as 5/26 - which seems right because I had my last bit of EWCM on the 25th (I didn't keep track of BD'ing). My babies heartbeat was 175bmp then, so of course people think that I'm having a girl too. I don't care either way, just want a healthy baby and I know I want more kids in the future so I just hope to have at least one boy and one girl. Good Luck!
