Turn baby Turn

Hi, i'm a little late to join this community...not sure how that happened but Hello everyone.
I am 34 weeks (due 2/17) and the baby is still not head down. My midwife mentioned the option to have her turned manually if she doesn't turn on her own in the next few weeks. This does not sound pleasant at all however the other option is a c section. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this procedure, is it dangerous? does it hurt? Is this my best option or should I just suck it up and agree to a c section?  Thanks for your thoughts:)

Thank you all for your comments!

They don't know if she will turn but they keep saying she still has time. Yesterday I spoke with my husbands cousin at my baby shower, she is a nicu nurse, she highly recommended against having the baby turned. She says it hurts momma a lot and puts baby under a lot of stress. I guess for now I will just wait to see what her next move will be:)

I was wondering the same this about c-sections~ That is the question, I think she wanted to know was what to expect....

I've never had one, I just recently (yesterday) asked one of my friends about it . I wasn't sure if they used suchers or staples.  She's had two c-sections.  She said the first one she had suchers and the second one was with staples.  She said they drug you up SO much that you really don't know what's happening.  Which when you see if on TV, they woman look ok, awake and aware...but I guess that's not true.
She also said when they do the insition, you can't feel it.  But once they start taking the baby out, you can feel you body jerking and moving all around.  She said it's just a weird feeling because you can't move or feel anything, but you can feel you're upper body moving all over.

I was just think how a c-section worked because I'm going to have a large baby and if they don't induce me at 37-38 weeks, then I could see myself getting a c-section.  It's just better to KNOW what's going to happen to you just incase they decide to do an emergency delivery...I know where you're coming from :)  Preperation is the best!!  Hopefully you don't experience a c-section (as with me) and we have wonderful deliveries...

Congrats on the pregnancy and welcome to our Forum!!  :)

First off, welcome to the forum!! And Congrats on your Pregnancy!

I would hold off and not make any decisions just quite yet. I will be 37 weeks pregnant tomorrow and my baby didn't turn or put his head down until I hit 36 weeks...so you still have plenty of time. Being that your 34 weeks, the baby still has room to move and bounce around. Once the room lessens, your baby will get into position and most likely stay there. But I would definitely give him or her a few more weeks to do so.

Doctors can turn the baby manually...which they do just by using their hands on the outside of your stomach...but I've heard it is VERY painful...so give your baby some time, I bet he or she will turn in no time!

It is very painful when they try to manually turn the baby.

Babies can still turn up to and during labour though.

Only 3% if babies are actually born breech. I would wait for bub to turn and if your labour starts, then get them to try doing it manually.

You can always get a c section if things don't work out, but I wouldn't worry about it yet.
