the drowsy substance in tylenol pm is benadryl, which is pregnancy safe.  you can call the doctor to re-assure yourself but they will tell you it is fine to take.  i even think it is on my lsit of OK meds for pregnancy that i got from my prenatal nurse.  i hope you are able to get some rest soon.

always sheck with your doc but i got sick the week i found out i was pregnant. YES tylenol is what you are suppose to take but NOTHING DROWSY, is what they told me. what ever the ingredient is that makes you drowsy is not good for the baby! they said to take tylenol sore throat DAYTIME do not take night time!!

like myself and others have said, always ask your doc but this is what happened to me (and all i wanted was the drowsy to knock me out so i could sleep as well and i couldnt)

GOOD LUCK!!

You really need to check with your dr before taking anything. As far as I know asprin is a no no in pregnancy cause it thins your blood. You dont want to mess with anything that effects the blood when your pregnant. For my migraines the dr prescribed tylenol 3 with codine. It doesn't effect the baby like asprin will.
Talk to your dr about insomnia and hedaches before taking any meds!!

yes tylenol PM is safe cause like hope2oneday said, the active sleep ingredient is benadryl which is pregnancy safe.  one of my co-workers was also prescribed ambien in her second trimester for sleep, so all doctors are different.

The paper I have from the doctor says that I can take Benadryl for insomnia...

Tylenol PM actually has the same ingredient as Benadryl  (Diphenhydramine), so it is safe also. Of course, this is best if you also have a headache because it also has acetaminophen in it. You don't want to take any meds when you don't really need them, so I'd stick with the ones that aren't combined unless you absolutely need everything that's in them.

You can also find sleeping pills that don't have acetaminophen, but only the diphenhydramine, which are pretty much like taking benadryl.

I'd talk to your doctor either way to be on the safe side...

I've had some really bad headaches or sometimes migraines myself and I tried taking Tylenol (500mg acetomophine per tablet) a few instead of what I normally take to be safe and all it did is make me very sick to my stomach both times so since I've had to take Exedrin, what I normally take which has 65mg caffiene, 250mg acetomphine, 250mg aspirin per tablet. I've had to take 2tablets (the recomended dose) 3 different times within the past month. Does anyone know if there's any harm there could of been done? They say your not supposed to take Aspirin, I was desperate to be out of pain and Tylenol just made matters worse.

I would check with your OB/GYN first, to be on the safe side.  I know that Tylenol is safer during pregnancy, but I don't know about the extra ingredient to help you sleep.

When I was pregnant, I had the best luck with a warm bath, candles all around the tub, soft music playing the the background while my hubby rubbed my shoulders gently.  I always made sure that my bedroom was very dark, except for the nightlite in the bathroom (you know for those many trips to the bathroom we pregnant woman make during the night) and a small fan on low.  The "white noise" of the fan, lulled me to sleep.

So check with your doctor and see what he recommends, okay?  Better to be safe with you and the little one.  Sweet dreams!
