Yea, Fathers have NOTHING to do with twins whatsoever. It is all carried on the mothers side.
That's what my doctor was telling me when we found out it was twins. The father had NOTHING to do with it.
I was breastfeeding my son and noticed my period was a week late. For course the test was positive!
The combination of history of me breastfeeding and the mini pill caused my hormones to go crazy!! So instead of releasing one egg that month, it released TWO!
So it doesn't have to do with family history, it could just be your B/C!
That's what happened to me.
Trust me, when we tried for Myra, I was scared as HECK to have twins again.
Good luck and hope this helps.
Ok. Thanks. That is what I was telling my husband. He is not an identical twin. I just tell him that our daughter will need a playmate/friend.
It does not increase your chances at all if the father has non-identical twins in the family.
Non-identical twins can only be passed down genetically via the mother. (His genetics don't have any bearing at all on whether you release one egg or two.)
Identical twins (one egg splits in two) are a rare occurance and you do not have any increased risk of them. The genetic history of both parents has no bearing on whether or not they occur.
