2 week dr visit.....

went good, she had grown an inch and gained a pound and 4 oz.  They also had to use silver nitrate on her cord because the blue stuff didnt go down far enuff to dry the cord.  Also they wanted me to start giving her vitamin d since she is nursing only.  And is it just me or did anyone else feel like it was the Spanish Inquision instead of a dr visit???  We just got asked weird questions that we have never been asked at a dr visit before.  They know my dh is a police sgt. and they asked if we had  gun safe, also asked if we had dogs and what kind they were and if they were inside or outside just to name a few, some things I understand them asking but others, really?  I wonder if it has to do with liability issues or something like that, maybe im oversensitive but I dont recall them ever asking anything like that with the boys.  Anyway, hope everyones babies are well!

And yes we have guns in the house and no we don't have gun safes yet but we will by the time Ellie can roll over. Not so worried about her accidentally shooting the shot gun under my bed at the moment... :P

Omg seriously Dani wow I can't believe that they would ask that. Um yeah would be calling 911 not the ped if my baby couldn't breath geez!  Dumb people are out there and like Trh some of us have been through hell and back to have our babies so we have read every book article magazine and so on available as we dreamed of holding our little miracle in our arms. For me, 34 months ttc and one miscarriage. Two months after a near death accident in which I fractured my spine and pelvis I became pregnant with Ellie. It was so hard to make her that I will do EVERYTHING in my power to make sure I do everything right and give her everything I can to make her happy and healthy.

Funny.  I was on the phone with the nurse today because after trying cassidy on one ounce of formula mixed with my breast milk she had a bloody stool last night (called the dr. last night) and then this morning her eyes were all puffy.  The nurse asked if her eyes were swollen shut and if she was having trouble breathing.  Like I would be sitting on the phone if that was the problem?  I know the bloody stool can be a milk allergy so I wasn't too concerned but if my baby was having trouble breathing I wouldn't be sitting at home.

Soooo...I guess there really are clueless parents out there lol

We weren't asked if we had guns but we were asked about pets. I don't have any so obviously it was a brief inquisition  :-)

I agree with Sun... I'm sure there are far more people who don't know how to take care of their babies (i.e. car seat in front) and the doc just wants to ensure everything is covered. We should all wear a sign... "I went through hell to have this baby. Trust me, I know how to take care of her!"

Yay grow baby grow!!

We also were asked about dogs and such same in the hospital and  like yeah three indoor dogs and I dont want to hear jack S from y'all about it!   They were like don't let the dogs touch the baby. Yeah right. I don't remember about the gun questions but yes we do have guns of course we do. We were asked about where she rides in the car how is her car seat faced, does she sleep back or tummy and all sorts of cr@p. It was kind of annoying but I'm sure there are people out there who don't know this stuff. Oh I know there is bc I saw someone with an infant car seat in the FRONT seat of a car!!  Didn't know there were people who still thought that was ok :P
