Sun - mines the opposite. Babies latch on wonderfully but i'm not getting enough milk to feed both of the girls. Madison's getting 100% BM but Taylor is only getting about 10-20% a day and the rest is formula. I wish I was getting more. I can't imagine it will get much better since the girls are already 3 weeks old and it hasent improved. I'm taking Flaxseed and Blessed Thisle vitamins but I don't see a change at all.
Seattleview I'm glad to hear that I'm not alone with the difficult to BF premie! She latches but her suck isn't so good. I've been pumping. What I've been doing is put her to breast at every feeding and then feed her a bottle of breast milk. We see our pedi tomorrow (mon) I am hoping that she gains weight well. She is really good at eating from the bottle I hope she gets better at the breast. I have so much milk that it drips all over her face lol!
aww ! gGad Ellie is discharged and doing wonderful and you too. i bet you can't wait to get her home and cozy :) yay!
I love that you were updating in real time on here! I definitely thought about my medhelp friends during my ordeal, but things moved so quickly and crazily! It's so nice to be back to some semblance of normal. We have to monitor feeding very closely, too, even though our baby boy is doing great. Had to rent a hospital grade pump and super sensitive scale to weigh him before and after each feeding, and are supplementing with formula with this tiny little tube right next to my nipple when he breastfeeds. It sounded overwhelming and downright annoying while we were having our discharge lactation consultation, but it hasn't been so bad. The good news is feeding will seem so much easier when we get to stop the weighing/supplementing nonsense - hopefully this Friday.
So glad you're doing well and looking forward to hearing that Ellie is coming home!
Thank you so much!!
I will never forget the ring of fire!!
Ellie is doing wonderful hoping to be discharged from NICU on Sunday, she is just on observation right now. I was discharged tonight (Sat).
I am doing great just exhausted! Ellie is learning to BF now and latches on great just needs a better su ck now so she can get more. Until then we practice lots and I pump and feed too.
I don't have my computer with me as I'm not staying at home since it's an hour and a half drive from the hospital but when I am home I'll post pics of Ellie :)

That's awesome that she is doing so well!!! How long do they think she will have to stay at the hospital?
Thank you!! She is off the ventilator and no oxygen needed now. Doing really well better than they imagined. They thought she would be on ventilator till tomorrow then oxygen but she's a trooper! Didn't think she would eat and would start tube feeding tomorrow but she ate today from a bottle. I pumped and first feeding got half a bottle and she ate it all at one sitting!
