Diabetes?

Ok, so we juts got back from the doctor, well our reproductive health doctor. My weight gain was 21 lbs in 5 weeks. She was concerned about this, ugh, so am I. My blood pressure was also higher then normal too, maybe just cuz I was nervous becuase we just talked about the weight gain...But anyway. I really only drink water, and a lot of it, and not really much pop or juice; and I eat like I always have and am gaining weight, plus I've been getting really shaky a lot.

Anyone else faced this? She called my doc and she isnt in today, so she should be calling me Monday with what i should do and if I should worry. But just curious if anyone else has experienced this. :) And if I should be extremely worried.

Thank you!  I'm so glad that your OB isn't too concerned that's awesome!  Who knows maybe their scales were messed up and honestly some women end up gaining 40lbs but take it all off after delivery no problem. So at the end of the day no matter how much you gain as long as baby and you are healthy than nothing to worry about :)

I get shakey too but I have hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). I wonder if it has to do with blood sugar like diabetes or something. As for weight gain I'm not sure. I've gained 8lbs total and I'm 22.5 weeks pregnant now. My dr said that is normal.

If it is diabetes the dr will probably send you to a nutritionalist. It's not that you are eating cr@p but they will teach you how to eat when you have gestational diabetes. You have to eat every few hours like clockwork and exercise helps too like yoga or going for walks. I'd say through the weekend try not to stress if it was something urgent they wouldn't just send you home. I'd try eating every few hours and lots of veggies, lean protein and such. Avoid sugar. I don't have diabetes so I don't know the specifics. You can try looking up gestational diabetes info maybe that would help. Good luck!  Let us know what the dr says on Mon
