Vision changes

Read something interesting and thought you all might find it interesting too.

Pregnancy hormones do more to your body than meets the eye, yet they also do plenty to your eyes. They affect not only your digestive tract and your ligaments (not to mention your reproductive organs), but also cause a decrease in tear production, leading to eye dryness, irritation, and discomfort. What's more, the same fluid buildup that causes your ankles to swell can also cause the curvature of your eye to change. You may find wearing glasses rather than contact lenses to be more comfortable during your pregnancy.

These eye changes are temporary conditions, and vision usually returns to normal after delivery (so no need to get a new prescription). Do keep in mind that certain more serious vision problems can be a sign of gestational diabetes or high blood pressure, so be sure to mention any vision changes to your practitioner.

Changing your prescription during pregnancy is probably not needed. My eye dr said that he won't change a patients prescription in pregnancy bc there is no reason to since it's temperary and it isn't really due to vision change Rx wise but from hormones causing dry eyes and change in shape. Luckily it should change back after pregnancy :). So you can probably skip the eye dr unless you have an eye infection.

This must be something like what my husband read in our baby books when I was pregnant with my son.

We were grocery shopping one day and he looked at me and said "You know you are going to go blind and grow a mustache right?"  I didn't know what he was talking about until we got home and found this page open in the "What to Expect" book LOL!
(The mustache was referring to how your hair can grow in unexpected places and thicker then usual.
