first steps

hi guys just wondered how many feb babies are walking yet lexie turned 1 on the 23rd and still isnt showing many signs, shell stand holding on an seems to be getting a little more balance but thats about it...
iv never really tried pushing her just let her get on with it really i figure shell start when shes ready but a friend of mine had her son round the same time and tries to push him alond by making him stand up he is now on the verge of walking just wondered if its a good idea to push the process or best to leave her to it and give her a little encouragement now and then when i see her standing on her own...

My twins didn't walk until later too. Taylor started walking at 13 months and Madison did not start walking until 16 months. It's funny because it all happens overnight, just like crawling. They go from not crawling one day to crawling the next, and one day they are not walking to the next day walking. Laura- Any updates on your little one?

The twins have been walking for a few months now. Carly started in January when they were 13 months old & Ashton followed in February at 14 months. Now, they pretty much run everywhere. Can't hold them back for anything!

Annabelle is 14 months and will walk  back and forth to David and me if we are sitting on the floor across from one another. Otherwise, she wants a hand to hold on to. The funny part is that she really isn't holding on. She's just touching my hand but if she doesn't have a hand to "touch" she isn't going anywhere. Kind of funny. And she runs when she's "holding"on.  She also never really crawled. I put her on her knees all of the time of and she goes straight to her tummy then to standing up.

Trh sounds like she may skip it :). I crawled for a few days before walking but hated it. Ellie rarely crawls she butt scoots everywhere or cruises around things. Every baby is different and adorable!!

Annabelle turned one on Valentine's day. She walks with her walker and if she's holding my finger. Actually, she runs but won't do it without holding something. I'm surprised how quickly she can move those little legs but she doesn't like to let go just yet. And she still doesn't crawl. Hates being on her knees. She pulls up on everything and walks no matter how hard I tried to get her crawling.

sounds like there all coming along really well :) and i agree with you sun if i tried to make her walk shed just get stressed out not worth it shes happy enough crawling and shes a really good climber too lol... her speach is pretty good at moment even though i do find her babbling along to herself laughing at the noises she makes, but she will shout mummy or daddy if she needs us and can say hello perfectly i love it when they first start to talk they sound so cute :)

Sophia is a runner as well she started totake short distance steps in Nov.
And now she just does her toddler run all over the place :) she has also discovered using objects as an extra step, she gathers all her toys to the edge of the sofa to climb on.

Both of mine are walking. Carly started at the end of January and Ashton started about 2 weeks ago. With both of them, they literally just let go of furniture. Now, there's no stopping either of them!

That's awesome witht he pottry training.  I don't have the patience to try so young :)  I did once and thought stuff this lol.  Both of my other kiddies were out of nappies by 2 day and night.  I have started toitel training Ella but it takes me about a year to get them going by themselves.  I introduce them to it and when they stop showing interest I stop until they are interested again hence it taking a year.  Only one more for me and then I can say goodbye to nappies :)

I don't see any reason to push it. It is my belief they walk when they are ready. You can allow them time and space to practice as they want. Same with talking. I talk to Ellie all the time and by 10mths she had 10 words. I never have pushed it. With potty training I don't push it either. She goes and sit on the potty when we want her to and she even holds poop and asks to potty so she can poop on there but it's all been no pressure and "good try" or "good job".

Ella turned 1 on the 28th.  She started taking steps at 8 and a half months and now she is running.  She is also a very good climber.  She climbs up the ladder to get to the slide, climbs up on to the table and she has even learnt if she pushes the foot stool over to the bench she can climb up that to.  She also pushes the chair slightly to get up on to the table :)

My little one is close to walking (he'll be fourteen months on March 9th; was a month early which is why I'm still a Feb 2011 babies group member).  He can walk holding onto only one of my hands, and I suspect could walk on his own if he wasn't a little chicken. :)  But he really prefers "walking" while holding onto both of my hands...and likes to run doing this, too, which is challenging for mama!

Lauren isn't walking she running! Lol  she runs everywhere she goes.  She turned 1 on the 21st.  She began taking steps at the end of october 2011.  She gets it honest her daddy was walking at 7 months and by 8 months ran every where he went.  She's also a climber too so I have to really watch her.
