I plan on working until it becomes to much. I want to spend much time with the baby as possible. I am also scheduled for a C-section, so i figure after that I will need to be home for a longer period to make sure I heal and recovery.
I have a meeting with HR this week, even though my job is covered under FMLA. You dont get paid,( which i think really *****) you have to use your sick and vacation time first, then apply for disability.
I would really like to stay home for 6 months!!!!!
I go on short term disability at 36 weeks until birth. then i get 3 months paid and then im also taking 3 months unpaid.
i think for anyone that has STD benefits can go out weeks before birth if they want to. my doctor signs for 4 weeks before.
Well, it looks like I'll be working until the 10th (due date is 12th). I had a meeting with HR today, and bc I haven't been with their school system for an entire school year (I started there last Feb), I don't qualify for FMLA :( It's not going to be great for me, I'll have to use all my leave days, plus take several "extended sick days" that I'll have to pay $50/day for. I REALLY hope she doesn't come earlier!
OMG your baby is due on my youngests bday as well lol :) very neat. i got induced on my duedate I was READY! being at an office job is a great thing for you the 1st sounds like a good idea to me . but yes ur rightyou could have her earlier and ull need time to get everything ready youll have your "nesting"stage soon to the duedate as well...you need to relax and have you "you" time b4 that baby is born
ive been wondering the same thing. Im due Feb 5th and i was thinking about starting it the 1st, but i know that there's a good chance ill have her earlier, if not i will be super big and uncomfortable. Decisions decisions! I also have an office job with my own desk so i pretty much sit all day anyways.
I plan on working until the end or until it is too unbearable. I want to have as much time with the baby as possible.
I would think anything around your due date would be acceptable. I would first check with HR to see when they would consider FMLA and being paid starts. They may request you take vacation until you actually deliver.
Thanks for the response. I think the best thing for me to do is just to get all my lesson plans up through the end of my maternity leave done over the Christmas break. That way, I can pretty much leave early if I need to. Good luck to you!
i work in a nursery with children aged 0-4years, im currently on restricted dutrys due to the problems iv had so it means im doing a ton of office work, im due 24th feb i hope to keep working until the 2nd week of feb as im just sitting in the office, most peoples waters brake later on so i would think if u did go into labour ur know 1st by getting some contractions, u should be ok :)
