genetic testing

So my husband and I were at the doctors the other day and they bought up genetic testing I want to get it done and he doesn't want too even though our insurance will cover it 100%. The reason I want to get it done is because my youngest nephew (my sister's child)was born with spinia bifida and I am 34 could possibly be 35 by the the time the baby will be here. What everyone's thought if u got it done how did it go

I'm getting the genetic testing via blood work. They said if anything comes up abnormal id need to go for a amnio but this blood test is up to 98-99% accurate. This test did not exist when I was pregnant in my area 3yeas ago with my first.

I was suggested to have that done at 4 month pregnant but I am afraid of the chances it has of losing the baby so I decided to have that special scan to  check for abnormalities at 12 weeks..

Which test is that? I have always gotten the test for downs and all that but it was so I could make sure my baby would get the best care possible.
I suppose you can ask yourself if knowing would change your.feelings towards your baby?
