Hormone problems, u/s problems......help!

Well let me start by saying that I had a miscarriage this past January at 12 weeks (blighted ovum).

I found out I was pregnant on 5/24.  I could hardly believe that I was pregnant because based on the days that we could have conceived, it was very late in my cycle.  My MD had me come in for hormone checks this past week just to do some early monitoring since I just had a miscarriage.  Results:
5/27  HCG= 1515, Progesterone= 32
5/29 HCG= 2000, Progesterone= 28
They said the progesterone was still well within normal limits, but HCG not doubling appropriately, so I was started on Prometrium.

6/2 HCG= 8000, I don't know the progesterone, but it was fine
6/4  I had an ultrasound & she said that my yolk sac was measuring only 5+weeks & there was no heartbeat, but that's not visible until @ least 5 wks 6 days.   Based on my LMP I should be 6 wks 3 days, but I wouldn't be terribly surprised if the dates are off.  So they are having me go back in a week for another u/s.

As far as the HCG goes, does anyone know that if you DON'T have a viable pregnancy (i.e. impending miscarriage) could your HCG begin to double as normal?
What should they be able to see in the yolk sac?  Is there something else they should be able to visualize in the yolk sac?

I agree, I would wait it out and pray. If you are going to have an m/c it will happen naturally. :( I had one a 6 weeks. Don't let the doctors force you into having one with you being so early. Try not to worry.....and PRAY!

My doctor has always done a 3 days blood drawn for HCG levels, sometime from the first test to the second test they don't always double, but as you see when you did the other test they jumped a great deal from 2000 - 8000.  When I had my first ultrasound at 5w6d they saw the sac and a very very very tiny fetal pole.  Try not to worry so much, your dates could be a little off.  Some doctors don't see a heartbeat until 7-8 weeks.  My girlfriend when in for a ultrasound a 6w with no heartbeat, they told her they wanted to do a D&C and she told them no, she came back for another ultrasound at 7w still no heartbeat, they wanted to do a D&C she said no again, did another ultrasound at 9w and they finally saw the heartbeat.  She is not 16w and doing well.  SO hang in there and don't jump so quickly on have a D&C if that is what they suggest.  As long as your HCG levels keep rising and not dropping something is growing in there and just stay positive and keep your faith.

while a in a healthy pregnancy doubles every 48-72 hours it appears that yours are not doing just fine.  I dont know anything about Prometrium but it appears that it is working well for you.  If you arnt sure exactly when you ovulated then I wouldnt stress too much at this point.  A few days can make a huge differance as Helen72 stated.   A heart beat is sometimes seen at 6 weeks and almost always seen at 7 weeks.   I think right now your best bet is to relax and wait it out as hard as that may be.  What day is your next ultrasound.  Keeping my fingers crossed all is well with you and baby.  Best wishes....dont forget to update us on the results.   God Bless!

In the yolk sac they should see a fetal pole.  My first u/s was at 5w4d and I had an empty gestational sack.  At 6w1d we saw a heartbeat.  Development at this stage is very rapid and if you are a few days off that can affect things quite a bit.  I hope that your next u/s will show that everything is OK.
