I was going to say!! HOLY COW that's more then I get. With my son, I just had my Level II U/S at 20 weeks
The twins i had one every month for measurements and make sure they were growing together...not one bigger then the other.
This one I one at 8 weeks (measuring), one at 12 weeks because we couldn't get the HB...so I wouldn't of got that one. Then my Level II U/S at 20 weeks....but I'm demanding another because I'm scared it's twins again adn they missed one!!!!!!!!!
Hmph, sorry about that. Got you mixed up with someone else. Sorry about that. Let us know what the doc says about another U/S.
At every appointment, my ob listens to the h/b and measures the size of my uterus. If you have frequent u/s appts you don't need to be measured I guess but your uterus should be around 27 cm +/- 4 cm since you are 27 weeks along.
This is also my first pregnancy so everything is new to me.
I personally have had 6 ultrasounds already ( I am just 27 weeks) but that is only due to complications. My Dr. typically does 1 to confirm time of pregnancy (how are along once a BFP is established), 1 at 20 weeks, and sometimes 1 later in pregnancy, but sometimes not if there are no problems. My Dr. doesn't have a u/s machine, so I have to have a seperate appt, at the hospital for u/s's but if it is bothering you and your Dr. has an u/s machine in his office, it can't hurt to ask..
Oh, and I have never been "measured?" What's that all about? This is my 1st so I have NOTHING to compare it to! =)
Nikko,
I am not having twins, just a singleton, but I will definitely ask about getting an u/s in the third trimester.
So sorry about your placenta. I had the same problem and it caused lots of bleeding till it moved in a few weeks. I hope you do not have to deal with bleeding!!
Helen, you might try asking. Seeing as your having twins, they might take your suggestion to heart as another way to monitor that all is okay.
I ask my doctor to do u/s each time just to see my boy and he doesnt mind, i had an appointment yesterday and asked him again and he was fine with it, normally they dont do it, but if you ask they might.
I have personally had quite a few because of complications. But normally my doctor would only do 2, one at 20 weeks and one at 36. Seems to me like in your case your doctor would want to be monitoring your placenta a little more closely.....
you are lucky...
all my OB does is listen to the heartbeat and that is it, she never measured my stomach nothing, and the last time I did an ultra sound was when I was 15 weeks pregnant, adn I am now 28 weeks and 6 days pregnant, so it has been almost 14 weeks since I last saw my son or had and Ultra sound..........
Yea, unless you are having problems they usually don't do anymore after you 20 week ultrasound. I am getting one at 36 weeks just because I had a miscarriage in Nov 2007 and my doctor is watching me closely. And she wants to find out how much the baby weighs at that point. I am 29 weeks this week so I have a little ways to go! :)
yes, after the "big scan" unless there is a reason to, an u/s is usually not done.
Im 25 wks and I haven't had an u/s at the OB's office since I was 18wks. I get the hb checked and I am measured but that's it.
Im not sure if they do one in the 3rd as a general rule or not.
Unless there is a problem they don't do one after the anatomy scan. I'm having one next Monday to see if my placenta has moved.
