Nervous already about birth

Okay, so, I find out on Monday if my placenta has moved enough regular delivery. I sure do hope that it has, but in the even that it hasn't I started doing research about c-sections. I read in a few articles that planned c-sections performed for medical reasons are usually performed around week 26. I'll be 28 weeks on Monday so that is about 8 weeks away. That thought scared the C R A P out of me. Not that I am not really ready to see my son, but I am so scared of the procedure. I don't like surgery period. My granny went in for a routine surgery and died 2 days later of a blood clot, which is a common side effect after surgery. My sister had to have an emergency c-section with her son David (who still hasn't come home yet, he was born May 6th, hopefully anytime since they asked for the car seat) and her opening was huge *at least to me*. It seemed like it was almost from one hip to the other. Is that the normal size of the incision. I need to just relax and breath but as Monday approaches I am getting more and more nervous!!! The other thing I was thinking about is how much more time I'll need for recovery after a c-section versus after normal birth. I was up and moving around immediately after birth of my DD, I understand that you don't exactly do that right after a c-section. AND the hospital stay is longer, though that may be a good thing (my insurance pays all but a 100$ either way). I think they shove women out too fast anyway.

I finished the baby's room, just need to take and post some pics. Honestly, this weekends project is going to be to pack my overnight bag and the baby's overnight bag for the hospital. I have an idea of what I need to put in my bag, but the quantity of items is evading me. Usually two days worth of stuff for a normal delivery but for a c-section does that mean I should put in 5 days worth? UHHHH!!! Going nuts!!!!

My daughter was a scheduled c-section because she was breech...they scheduled her for the week of my due date but my water broke about two weeks early.  This time he scheduled me a week and a half early since I had been early before and because I really wanted to do it before the end of the year.  I was TERRIFIED of having a c-section with my daughter but it was the easiest thing ever.  The epidural scared me the most but it wasn't that bad.  I had my daughter at 8:26pm and they didn't get me into a real room until about 2:00am so I thought that's why I was there 3 nights but he told me to plan on being there 3 nights this time too (I thought it would be 2 nights)...even though I know a girl who was home in just over 24 hours!

Anyway...if you do have to have a c-section, don't stress.  It was so easy.  I know everyone is different but I was up and around really fast and was at a high school football game within two weeks of delivery.  And my scar is pretty little.  It shrinks when your belly gets back to normal.  It's probably not even 4 inches across.  I am planning a repeat section this time because it was so easy...

Let us know how it goes.. Hopefully, your placenta moved!!

Do you have placenta previa? I was also diagnosed with that and mine moved and it 100% corrected as of last week. I am 26.5 weeks, and I just felt it's a little early to be all panicky!! =)

Hope it all works out, and again, keep us posted.!!

You have a lot going on.   My friend had a c-section and I think she stayed 3 days at the hosptial versus 2 days.  mostly, I think most women who have  c-sections that are uncomplicated stay on average 3 to 4 days.
