Weight Gain So Far...

So I had to be weighed yesterday and I've been doing my best to not gain too much, so I usually just look away from the scale and let them write down the number, but yesterday the nurse blurted out 'Well, you've gained 16lbs so far.' I almost cried. I was never a big girl to begin with and I know the smaller you are in the begining, the more weight you could/should possibly gain, but still...I'm a woman after all and we all hate gaining weight! I know its best and its good for the baby, but is 16lbs too much or just right?

Where do you ladies stand in this weigh-in as far as 'normal' weight gain goes in pregnancy goes? You don't have to drop numbers if you don't want to!

Well, in the beginning, I lost 10lbs and I gained those back plus 7 more. I have an appointment this coming Monday so we'll see what damage I've done because I have just been eating.

also it's normal to gain about a pound per week in the 3rd trimester....so if you have gained 16 plus one poud per week times 12 weeks....it will bring you in around 28lbs...thats perfect!  :)

I am 28 weeks, and on top of my pre-pregnancy weight I have gained about 12 lbs.  However, I am not being good about my diet, so I bet it has gone up.  I give in to my less than healthy cravings almost daily.  I think if 25-35-ish lbs is normal in a pregnancy, then 16 lbs at almost 3/4 of the way through is pretty normal.  Sounds like you are just fine to me.  I work with a woman that is 31 weeks and has gained 48 lbs....

Girl 16lbs is just right.  With my son I was 135 when I got preggers and gained 65lbs....talk about wanting to cry....haha.

With my second pregnancy which ended in miscarriage at 11 weeks I gained 15 lbs!

This is my third and I am 28 weeks...I have only gained 13lbs somehow.  Maybe God figured I suffered enough with the past 2.   I am hoping to gain a little more soon because baby Emma is slightly underweight.

You are right on track....you dont need to worry a bit.  Just remember the average baby is 7.5lbs, puls the weight of the amniotic fluid and the placenta will be lifted minutes after birth.   Thats got to be around 10lbs total you can subtract.  :)
