Poll For the Week:

Thanks Nikko for your idea!!   This week we will do: "ironic tidbits.'  Share something ironic with us!!

I dont have anything fun, at least not this early in the morning. So I will share my frustration for the week, which I think is very ironic.  (I'm a teacher):

-No Child Left Behind is leaving A LOT of children behind!

You are right!!  The thing is that the main idea of the law is that every single child will be on grade level, it has a strong, strong, strong, aire of perfection to it. Bottom line: this is just not possible. Children are different, they have different needs and deficits. Without the support of parents, like you mentioned, it can be darn near impossible to convince a child that education is important enough for them to care about and apply themselves to. I want my kids to all be exactly where they are supposed to be, but the pace is so fast that I fear some of them are falling further behind. I hope to God I am wrong, but it is a challenge!

Isn't ironic how we spend our whole lives avoiding the doctor (and hospitals) and then when we are pregnant most of our time at the doctors?!?!

AND

We spend most of our younger years avoiding pregnancy like the plague and when we are finally ready wondering why it hasn't happened yet.

AND the big irony of the year.

Either way it goes for the US elections, it will be a history making year. Either we are going to have a black man as president or a woman as vice president.

Unfortunately, cheesecake7, I understand your predicament. My husband and I are very active in helping to educate our child but so many parents are not. I think the no child left behind is leaving children behind because it is sending a message to parents that the school is 100% responsible for educating our children. Which just isn't the truth at all. I see it as a 50/50 partnership between the school and us as parents to ensure that our children are learning everything they should. What is sad is you can really tell the different between children whose parents are hands on with education and those who are not. Example. My neighbors twin boys are in the 5th grade but read at the 2nd grade level. My DD speaks, reads, and behaves much, much better then they do. Of course, I could be a little partial, but I am fairly certain others are thinking the same thing about someone else's child.

Most of my adult life, I have been trying to keep in shape and doing tons of leg lifts (among other exercises) to get my rear end in better shape...but the funny thing is, my butt and hips are moving inward and my back end is like shrinking!  My DH pointed it out to me (how sweet HA!) that my butt seemed smaller and to think that's all do to my body re-positioning itself while Im pregnant!  Who knew!!!!!
