Large for dates

On Monday's appointment, I measured yet again, large for dates.  However, the OB has me at 30 weeks, where I have myself at 32 weeks by this Friday.  I based my due date from the RE, since I had an IUI.

I am part of a fetal movement study at the hospital where I work, so I just had a sonogram last Monday and my fluid and placenta were normal. So, I know that's not the cause and I also "passed" my glucose test, so no gestional DM causing a large baby.

I go tomorrow am for a sonogram. Im not worried b/c of the sonogram last week and a plus is DH will get to see her again and me, too!

Ill let you know the results.

I called the OB today to find out if they had read my sonogram.  A call back from the nurse said the midwife and she both took a look and Sophia was in a normal range for growth. So, no large baby for me!

Thanks again for all of the reassurance.  It was much appreicated!

Thanks for the advice.  As long as Sophia is healthy and can survive outside of the womb without any interventions, I will so welcome seeing her before I thought I would!

when my sister in law was pregnant and had an ultra sound the doctors told her that her son wasnt normal, because he had a big head, she was so worried but her mom was saying not to worry because when she was born she had a big head too, she kept doing tests and they all showed that her baby is most likely not normal, but when he was born they did tests and he was fine, now he is 2 years old and there is nothing wrong with him.

so you should check the history of your family and your husband's as well, maybe you have big babies in your family, dont worry about it dont stress your self .

Thanks! That's what I was thinking!  If there was a problem, off to the OB I would have been sent.

Just so crazy. DH and I were both 7lbs but our moms can't remember how many weeks they were when they delivered us. Plus, technology was so different back then.

Maybe hereditary how big were you and dad when you were born. Babies are all different sizes at this point so it is hard to tell. If you think you are 32 weeks tomorrow, but baby is measuring 35 weeks it is possible that the ultrasound is off by 2 weeks. I'm sure all is fine if not then you would have been advised to go straight to your OB's office or would have been sent to L&D for monitoring, etc.

Ok, my daughter is measuring at 35 weeks!  The tech measured her head, diaphram, stomach, bladder, femur, humerus, heart, bladder twice to make sure.  Based on this, her due date would be Jan. 3!

I now have to wait to see what the OB says.  MY next scheduled appointment is Dec. 17th.  The tech said they should have the report by early next week. So, if there is a problem, Im pretty sure they will call and get me in earlier.

I know for sure the date of conception b/c of the IUI.  Like I said, no gestional DM to cause a large baby.  I need to do some research to see what's up with Sophia's growth!  Any insight is welcomed!

You are probably right on. Due dates based on ultrasound in early pregnancy can be off by 5-7 days either direction. Also, due dates based on later ultrsounds can be off by as much as two weeks either direction.
