this stinks...

our baby is due Jan 5th.  Our deductiable is about$1500, and we run on a calendar year meaning that if we have the baby in january anything  else I need for the rest of the year will be covered by our insurance...unfortantly from what I understand we wont get the tax break on our return which is usually about $1500 unless the baby is born in 08.  Anyone else having issues with this?

yeah...lol I was thinking I would have it secheduled for the 29th since thats my dads birthday...or maybe the 27th since that is hubbys.  guess I need to make sure my ob is going to be in town for the holidays.  I have heard that some insurances wont pay for and induction unless it's medically necessary but i have really good insurance so hopefully that wont be an issue....if not i'm sure avoiding having a 10lb baby would be a good medical reason lol since my son was 9lb 4.8 oz  :)

Yep, so you better schedule that induction now for the 31st, better yet the 30th just in case it takes longer to pop the little bugger out. :)

i just called H&R block and they said the baby will have to be born in 08 to recieve the money when tax refunds come back...otherwise you cannot claim them until the 09 year.

I believe all dr./hospitals/meds are a write off if they exceed 7.5% of your income.... for instance, (to make it easy) if you make $100,000 in a year (don't we all wish)... your medical would need to exceed $7500 for the year. And, if I understood it correctly, if your medical for the year was lets say $8000, you need to subtract the $7500 from the actuall costs, and that is what you can write off.  So, for paying $8000 for the year, only $500 would be a tax write off... don't you just love Uncle Sam!

some one told me that there may be a possibility for the IRS to include the first few weeks off the year in the year before's taxes.. i was going to ask an accountant but.. i am fresh out of those.

anyone know if IVF is a write off?

I honestly love that idea! Im in the military and doubt they would induce me if I asked, but i definetely will that way i can look cute in the pics. Also that way I can tell my family exactly when it is, I know they all want to be here.

my doctor said he would induce me anytime i wanted after 37 weeks, so worst case I will have to get induced but I would really like to go on my own.  However I have decided that if I have a scheduled induction I am going to go and get my hair and makeup done that day before hand so that I will look cute in the baby pictures...lol

Not the deductible part, I am employed by the state of TN so I have great insurance. Hubby though is self-employed and we could really use the tax break too. We had to pay the IRS 1,000$ this year over and above the 10,000$ we had already paid in for the year. Blah, I'm due on the 12th. Your alot closer to the beginning of the year, maybe baby will come a week early. All it takes is for the birth certificate to say December 31st... :) My DD was two weeks earlier than my due date. Maybe I'll get lucky too.
