Hospital bag

When are you ladies going to start packing your hospital bags, if you haven't already?

Me, I'm definitely going to get mine going in the next two weeks.  I was late last time, but I know I can't count on that this time so I figure I'd better be prepared....

Baby's stuff is all packed, just need to get the car seat installed this weekend.  Hubby's clothes and snacks are all packed.  Labor bag just needs all my school stuff in it, in case I have another long labor I'll be studying :P  My stuff on the other hand...I still have lots to pack and a few things to buy and I haven't even started on my daughter's bag!  I kind of feel like we are moving into the hospital with the amount of stuff we're bringing!

I started mine.  I have the babies stuff in their, like a few outfits, receiving blanket, some diapers, snowsuit, etc.  Now my stuff...thats another story.  I went out this weekend and bought a nightgown, some granny panties (LOL), and another nursing bra.  Still need to get toiletries and nursing pads, etc.  I am having a c-section, so I will be in hospital for few days.  Luckily we only live like 10 minutes away, so DH can scoot home to get whatever I forget!

I thought about packing some time last week, but that's as far as I got.  Now I'm down with flu so I've got zero energy to really do anything at all.  I'd like to pack, but I just can't face it.  Hubby is also away right now and both of my other kids are home sick as well.  It's the house of misery!!

Anyway, I'll probably just pack one or 2 changes of clothes for me, and a jumper (although it might be 98 outside, they chill the rooms to something rediculous), I'll be taking stacks of new (cheap) underwear that I can easily throw out if they get messy - which they probably will - and my bras and bra pads for when milk comes in with great waves.  For babe, it will be "all of the top drawer" clothes, socks, mittens, beanies, nappies, wraps, beast pump, bottles, teats, sterilising gear and something for the older kids from the baby for when they first come to visit.  I'll be in for about 5 days but hubby will bring home laundry each day when he visits and bring in anything I've forgotten.  OH, and definately some music and a book....  I'll try and pack next week *sniff*

Someone posted this on another forums..it is helpful

For mom:
lotions or massage oils
Robe
Warm socks (to wear in the delivery room)
Maternity underwear (for the trip home)
Slippers
Nightgown
Nursing bra (if you’re planning on breastfeeding)
Clothing for trip home (consider bringing 1st or 2nd trimester maternity clothes, which will be roomy and comfortable)
Cosmetics, hairbrush,
Toothbrush, toothpaste, floss
Mints or breath strips (i recomend cause caffee and tobacco made me sick to smell)
Lollipops (for a dry mouth)
Lip balm
Deodorant
pad, sanitary items
dermoplast (i reccomend it, it is a spray if your swollen or have stiches it will numb the area and makes it less painful you can find it in your pharmacy or wal mart)

for dad:
Change of clothes
Pajamas or sweats (if he plans to spend the night)
Toothbrush, toothpaste, razor
Snacks, sandwiches and beverages (keep food on hand so the "labor coach" won't have to leave your bedside)
Loose change or dollar bills for vending machines
Books, magazines or CD's (to help Mom relax)
Cell phone
Camera(s) and extra film if not using a digital camera
Camcorder
Batteries and/or chargers for cameras and cell phones
Phone list for friends and family
Phone card for long distance calls if cell phones are prohibited in the hospital
Car seat for trip home

for baby:
Newborn clothing ( 3 days worth outfit, onesis, socks, booties, etc)
Two receiving blankets
Extra newborn-sized diapers ( you will get some from the hospital but bring some in case)
Mittens or baby nail clippers (most babies are born with long fingernails and can scratch their face)
infant formula if you intend to bottle-feed so your baby can start with the brand you prefer
Bottles and nipples if you will be bottle-feeding

hope this helps if you have anyother questions drop me a line,

I was packed by 30 weeks because my first child came before I packed..he was a 35 week birth and I was running around packing with water gushing from my legs and my husband standing with a dumbfounded look.
I have comfy knit pants and oversized Ts with footies and extra undies, tioletries. and a lidocaine spray for after to spray when I have to pee.(did it with my first it was GREAT) if anyone want to know the brand just send me a note.  I am also bringing my ipod and a book along with breast care stufff...I probably over packed but better to do that then  not.
