Snooping

So I was looking around on the Dec babies to see what they were talking about and a girl posted a list of what to take to the hospital.  With me being a first time mom i found it really helpful so i am going to paste it in here and hopefully it helps someone else!

For mom:
lotions or massage oils
Robe
Warm socks (to wear in the delivery room)
Maternity underwear (for the trip home)
Slippers
Nightgown
Nursing bra (if you’re planning on breastfeeding)
Clothing for trip home (consider bringing 1st or 2nd trimester maternity clothes, which will be roomy and comfortable)
Cosmetics, hairbrush,
Toothbrush, toothpaste, floss
Mints or breath strips (i recomend cause caffee and tobacco made me sick to smell)
Lollipops (for a dry mouth)
Lip balm
Deodorant
pad, sanitary items
dermoplast (i reccomend it, it is a spray if your swollen or have stiches it will numb the area and makes it less painful you can find it in your pharmacy or wal mart)

for dad:
Change of clothes
Pajamas or sweats (if he plans to spend the night)
Toothbrush, toothpaste, razor
Snacks, sandwiches and beverages (keep food on hand so the "labor coach" won't have to leave your bedside)
Loose change or dollar bills for vending machines
Books, magazines or CD's (to help Mom relax)
Cell phone
Camera(s) and extra film if not using a digital camera
Camcorder
Batteries and/or chargers for cameras and cell phones
Phone list for friends and family
Phone card for long distance calls if cell phones are prohibited in the hospital
Car seat for trip home

for baby:
Newborn clothing ( 3 days worth outfit, onesis, socks, booties, etc)
Two receiving blankets
Extra newborn-sized diapers ( you will get some from the hospital but bring some in case)
Mittens or baby nail clippers (most babies are born with long fingernails and can scratch their face)
infant formula if you intend to bottle-feed so your baby can start with the brand you prefer
Bottles and nipples if you will be bottle-feeding

I'm a second time mom and, from my experience, it's much better to bring your own diapers and formula, especially if you have a preference about brand, etc.

Also....lots of pads - I wasn't prepared for how many I'd go through right after giving birth!

Thanks so much! I'm a FTM too and I was just thinking that I should pack my bag soon, just in case. I did not realize that I would need half of this stuff. I thought the hospital provided a lot of it.
