the only tip I would have for you is to insist that your iv be inserted above your wrist not at your wrist or on your hand. That was advice from a friend and it proved to be immeasurably more comfortable to move during labor as well as hold the baby after the delivery.
I was induced on the 21st, and it was a good experience. They used pitocin since my cervix was sufficiently effaced. Mid morning they did a membrane sweep which was surprisingly painful. I think it would have been okay if I had had a warning but the doctor surprised me. Then at noon while I was only 2 centimeters dilated maybe 3 centimeters, they broke my water. I started to have cramps that increased in intensity throughout the afternoon though none were intolerable. They felt like bad diarrhea cramps. since they couldn't tell how strong my contractions were, they inserted a catheter sensor intimate uterus which was not comfortable. While I tried to concentrate through the contractions I would be distracted by the movement of the catheter between my legs. At that point I decided to get an epidural, around 5 p.m. That was a good decision and I continued to progress. By around 12:30 a.m. I was fully dilated and after 40 minutes of pushing my baby boy arrived at 1:10 a.m. January 22nd. The epidural did not at all hinder my ability to push. The nurse and doctor would tend to tell me when I was having a contraction based on the sensors on my stomach but I could tell slightly before that based on the pressure between my legs. You will do great! also the doctor put a mirror at the end of the bed for me to see the progress, and while prior to that day I would not have expected to have liKed that, it turned out to be very helpful and interesting. It helps me feel more connected to the pushing.
I got induced on the 25th. It was a good experience I was given an oral medicine to get induced @ 6 pm (forgot the name) , it only took one dose to get the contractions going. I was having small contractions that day but the next morning (monday 26) contractions were getting stronger. I was having good dialation and I used the hot tub and yoga ball methoths for the contraction, I was fully dialated at 6 pm and started pushing had my baby girl at 649 pm . I didn't use any pain medicine, and tore down there:/ it was hard but the end was worth it ♡ . You'll feel scared/ nervous at first but it's exciting at the same time , knowing you will soon have your baby in your arms. Good luck everything will be fine :)
