I didn't even know blood types could harm anything. Both me and my hubby have O positive. Does that mean our baby could/will have the same as us since we're the same? May be a dumb question, I had no idea blood types could affect the baby at all..
i have o- blood type. lucky for me my first baby has the same blood type so there were no complications there. my second pregnancy ended in miscarriage and they told me it was most likely because the baby had a different blood type. after my miscarriage they gave me an injection incase i got pregnant again, so the same thing wouldnt happen. now i'm 7 weeks pregnant and i feel much better than my last pregnancy. so i guess that injection helped
I don't know if it helps at all, but my mom has O negative, and Dad is A positive. Myself, plus my brother and sister all turned out just fine, but from what she told me we each had to stay a few extra days in the hospital because of some issue related to us having a positive blood type. But that was 25-30 years ago and she never even mentioned getting an immunoglobulin shot.
I'm same blood type as you. My ex was positive.. I had the Anti-D injection at 27wks but my baby was born with slight antibodies in her blood but they just went after few days. I'm now pregnant again and will likely have to have the shot again!!
I have rh negative and my husband positive. You should have gotten a shot of immunoglobulin after you miscarriage. But anyways it's great that you are pregnant again, just be extra cautious, if there is any slight bleeding or even spotting you should get a shot of immunoglobulin within 72 hours. That will protect you till week 28 when you should get one more shot and you will get one more after the delivery. Just watch for any spotting and enjoy your pregnancy. It should not add any other issues or problems.
Usually, around 27 weeks or so, you will have a blood test to determine babies blood type. Should baby have Positive blood, you will get a shot of Rhogam (Sp?) to help fight antibodies that would harm baby. I have never heard of miscarriage because of blood type.... I hope this helps. I have B- blood type, and my daughter has type +, so I had to get a shot during the 27th week.
