Labor Stories Before & During!

Hi everyone, I'm a first time mom, 39 weeks +2 days! I want to hear about your labor stories. What happened before you went into labor? Did your water break, bad contractions, bad back pain etc? How long did the symptoms last before you actually went into the hospital? Did you do anything crazy or different that day to bring on labor? Tell me your stories! I'm sure other FTM would love to hear them as well!

With my first i had an appointment with my Dr and he told me I was ready and to go home and take a walk so I did and went into labor that night. I started having regular but very mild contractions and the hospital was almost 2 hours away so we went right in after calling the doctor. That was a 30 hour labor but partly because i hate hospitals and i was stressed from that and partly because baby was breech. With my second I had a weird feeling the baby would come that night (no contractions or anything. Just a feeling) so I told my husband and we cleaned the house and got everything ready and we went to bed at about 10pm. I woke up at 2am went to the bathroom and saw some blood (not a lot but enough to know it was time) and strong contractions. I had a home birth that time so we just called the midwife at that point and she came right away. Baby was born 8 hours later. I'm almost 38 weeks with number 3 now. :)

I had lots of practice contractions and lost my mucus plug, but since those aren't great indicators and I'm sure at 39+2 you're referring to signs that labor is imminent- back pain. I had severe lower back pain the day of and then contractions started very suddenly. With my first it was similar in that the night beforehand and day of labor I had bad lower back pain. That's been my only sign that labor was going to start shortly. My first labor was short so to avoid risk of an unplanned home birth, after 2.5 hours of contractions (mostly irregular and I could speak through them) I went to the hospital and was at 7cm. I hadn't done any anything that day that would've stimulated labor. The contractions were only in my lower back and pelvis so they can present themselves in an odd way that doesn't seem like labor. When it comes time, you'll know.
