We attend the one day class on the 12th. I will be 36 weeks and know I probably should have taken it sooner but am a procrastinator. My SO really wanted to take the class and I am so lucky he is excited and supportive.
^That's basically what we did today. We have one more tomorrow. I think it was great. Very informative.
I just finished mine, hubby was great all the way through. They were through our local hospital but taught by a lactation specialist and a midwife, so focused on natural child birth and on having choices as mom's and on supporting the mother. I'd suggest you do reading on the side as well, can't learn too much, and you won't necessarily get all the information available just through the birthing classes.
I would highly suggest a labor class based on science not hospital practices. Many doula and midwives provide classes that is based on your anatomy, not fear based policies.
I took them with my first and found the anatomy and physiology you learn behind birth and what happens after interesting, but I didn't end up using anything I learned there while in labor. It's beneficial for learning about what happens after baby is born and what will happen in the upcoming weeks though.
