So my bf came to me tonight with wanting to name our baby boy Legend. I'm not sure about it. Very unique.

What do you guys think?

I think I will use it as his middle name.  So if he wants to go by it he can. And his dad can call him by that as well.

Yes, kids will always find a way to be mean, but that does not suggest we should ignore that a name we find creative or attractive or saying something about us as creative and fun parents, might be harder on the child than a different (but equally creative or attractive) name.

I guess in your shoes I would either go ahead and indulge your boyfriend's whim and also give the baby a middle name you like and then call him by the middle name during the teasing years (elementary and middle school especially) and let the child decide in high school if he wants to try to live up to Legend, or I would use Legend as a middle name.  Sure, if he grows up brilliant as Einstein, looking like a movie star, and talented in music and sports, Legend would be fine.  But if he doesn't, he is going to find the name tough to deal with.  Let's say a geeky looking kid who is kind of quiet is named Legend.  Think of what the mean girls in 7th grade will do with that.
