First ultrasound? ?

I'm 6 weeks and 3 days pregnant with my second child and had my first doc appointment today. I was really  disappointed that they didn't made an ultrasound. Any one knows when they will do it here?? I moved here from Germany...so I'm used to a different health insurance system

Alot of countries and people have early ultrasounds like ivf or high risk pregnancies babies etc .. this is why they limit scans to about 5 10 minutes max ... i had 1 at 8 weeks 3 days they thought i was 12 weeks did no harm to my little girl i plan on booking an early ultrasound for around 8 weeks just to ensure little bean is doing ok as i may not get a scan at 12 weeks as they are full booked around that time , i think its reassurance they wouldnt give out scans early if it posed high risk of birthdefects or miscarriage but usually you get your ultrasound around 10-12 weeks gestation .i wouldnt read to much on the internet its lethal hope ypur pregnancy and birth goes ok :)

I did mine just about 7 weka and 4 days pregnant and had to pay for it about 200 NZ$ and I kind of wish I didn't. And here is why:

Just reading a book "The Nourishing Traditions Book of Baby&Child Care" by Sally Fallon Morell and Thomas S. Cowan, MD (what a great, great book indeed, HIGHLY recommended) and it says:

"..in 2008, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine published a report which stated that ultrasound indeed poses some potential risks. These include "postnatal thermal, fetal thermal, postnatal mechanical, fetal mechanical and bio effects considerations for ultrasound contrast agents." Think of a high pitch operatic voice breaking a glass, only at the level of cells and chromosomes. In research conducted in 2001, in which an ultrasound transducer aimed directly at a miniature hydrophone placed in women's uterus, recorded a sound  "AS LOUD AS A SUBWAY TRAIN COMING INTO THE STATION."

And they mention whole other bunch of researchers and facts against it later in the book. It must be disturbing, therefore my suggestion is to minimize its use as much as possible!

Made me think...
