I'm back from the 3 hour deal and passed - I do not have gestational diabetes.  When I got there they drew blood for a baseline and waited a few minutes - then by 8:30am I had the orange drink and had blood drawn at hour intervals for three hours.  At 11:30 they drew blood, I went to the hosiptal cafeteria, had lunch, and went back to the lab for my results.  They were able to tell me the results right there.  All of my numbers were lower than they needed to be - the closest was 4 points away.  It wasn't too bad -the other woman there said she was just hungry- but I was a little nauseaus...  I just sat and waited out the time!  No biggie.

If you fail the one hour test then they'll refer you to do a three hour one.  I failed mine and have to do the extended test.  I was told that if my total number at that point is elevated or if two numbers are off then I'll be diagnosed with gestational diabetes (GD) and be sent to a nutritionist.  The number I wanted to be below was 140 and I was at 146 so I go in on Thursday for the extended test.  I'll post after that to say how it went.  From what I understand it's rather unpleasant b/c you have to fast prior to the test.  I'll go in at 7:45am and can't eat after 10pm the night before.  I'll get a baseline blood level started and get the actual glucose drink by about 8:15 - so then I'll have blood drawn at for three hour intervals after that.  After the last blood is drawn I'll have to eat before I can leave the hospital (the lab that's doing the testing will be done is at a hospital).  They do have reclining chairs there so I'm hoping to sleep through most of it!  The paperwork my dr's office gave me said I will get shaky from not eating!  nice!

Your clinic should be able to give you a list of numbers and such. I'm going to take classes at the hospital where I will deliver.  You could check there - at a hospital or something.  I'm due July 11 and just failed my 1 hr glucose test today - blech!
