Sometimes those sonogram weights are WAYYYY off! The morning I went into labor with my son, the tech at the hospital said the baby would be about 6 lbs 11 oz. He was TWO POUNDS off. LOL.
Congrats Dani! I'm so happy for you that everything is perfect!!!
Tiger- I got the baby's weight at 17 wks and it was 16 ozs. Last wk I had my full fetal scan and because he was so low and in the birth position the tech and dr could not get an accurtate reading. They are almost certain he is close to 2 lbs or close to it. He is very very long the measurements of the femur bones they said were quite big. I have another u/s in a few wks so I will find out the def weight at that point. Amazing how different countries are. I would be going nuts I need to know everything like yesterday. I hope this helps....
Hugs,
AP
Dani- before the u/s started the tech asked us if we wanted to know and we said know. Our baby was curled up and to find out the sex she said she would usually go in from the side in that situation. We were lucky that the baby was sitting like that because the tech said that sometimes with boys it is unavoidable to miss "it" when doing the bladder and kidney measurements.
jenkaye21- thanks. I thought that's what they must have done. I'm a little dissapointed that they didn't tell me the weight of my baby!
Congrats Dani!!!
Tiger- I think they estimate the weight by the measurements they take during the sono. Later, the doctor/midwife can estimate the baby's weight just by the size of your abdomen. But it is still an *estimate*, not exact.
Dani- Too funny. I guess my son will have to move to the midwest to meet his future wife...LOL.
Tiger...I am not sure, she just was able to tell me??? I know other women have found out the weight here though. I read your post about waiting to find out what the sex is. My husband video taped the u/s and zoomed in and knew what it was easliy by looking at it even before she told us. The cord was in the way in the begining, but as soon as it moved we saw! Did you have to avoid looking?
I believe it goes by measurments of the abdomen. I was told at 18 wks 3 days that my little guy was 9 ounces... but I never thought about how they do it LoL.
I have another ultrasound Monday and will try and remember to ask. I am pretty sure it is by abdominal measurements though...
That's so great! I'm so happy that everything is well. Tell me...how do they work out the weight of the baby? They don't tell you the weight of the baby until about 30 weeks in Australia so i'm just curious. Congrats again!
There does seem like a lot of boys on here. At my church there are SEVEN newborns and all of them are girls! I guess that is how the worlds population evens out LOL!
Congrats..
Crysi- This yr is the yr for boys. For every 5 pgs there is like 1 girl. Too funny!
I know it, everyone is having boys!! Congrats! :]
CONGRATS!!!!! Omg, I'm soooo happy for you! Another boy for the list too LoL!
