Calming the fetus

What are some ways you calm your baby inside you when they are kicking up a storm.  My baby has such strong kicks and jabs with the elbow that it actually hurts.  The only thing I have found is placing track #9 from the Mary Poppins CD soundtrack on repeat and placing the headphones on the belly.  Most of the time she'll settle down but other times, this does not work.

I hear ya as soon as it's lights out he is all over the place and he hurts bad. There are nights I'm ready for his martial arts moves to come through my stomach. I try to switch positions etc but if I let him go he will usually settle down anywhere from a 1/2 hr to 45 mins so it's not too bad the time. Wow you are nearing the end you are 9 days behind me! We will be looking back at this and laughing! I hope you feel better soon. Good luck and keep me posted!

i've read that the movement from walking or rocking will sort of make him fall asleep and maybe help get things  moving down there and bring on labor sooner.  Try going for a short walk before bed or sit on a rocker and read before bed, that might help calm him down a bit.  or camomile tea with some cream and honey will put you both to sleep (camomile tea is a calming tea and it has no caffeine)
I've been lucky I guess, my baby doesn't kick much (I don't think he has much room to kick) he loooves to stretch out though and roll from side to side.  But I like him moving because he lets me know that he's ok in there.

Are you laying down and relaxing for a while before bed time? I would try that, let her get that energy out when you are relaxing, watching TV, reading, that way when you actually want to fall asleep she wont just be getting started.

I am due July 29th and the reason I asked was because her kicks get to be so strong in the evening that not only do they hurt but then when I need to go to sleep and she's still active, I can't get to sleep until she settles down.  She's really active from 8:30/9:30pm til 11:30pm.  That's a really long time kicking around, especially when bedtime is 9:45pm or 10pm.  I also can't wait to be able to eat sugary things again because all that ever did was make her even more active.  It's been months since I had something sweet.  :o(  3 more weeks to go!  :o)

I never tried to settle my son down, he is a KICKER! He was in-utero and he is now, at nearly 6 months old! I am not sure there is any fail-proof way to calm a baby in-utero! Try and enjoy it! Good luck

Why try to settle them down.   You won't remember them later on and it's something good to remember.   Enjoy it..you will miss it and it will soon be a memory.

I don't try to settle my lil man down. He is so inactive during the day it gets kind of scary so when he goes nuts at night I just enjoy every minute of it. I do at times switch positions in bed or rub my belly and his kung fu becomes less painful but nothing calms my guy down. He is very very strong it hurts bad but it's almost over for me so I will miss it at some point. Good luck! When are you due?
