Desperate.. about to quit...

I have EBF my son for 6 weeks 3days now.  I also pump and he takes a bottle and breast equally well.

The problem is, up until about 5 days ago, he was a happy, easy-going, fairly predictable baby.  Sleeping in 2-3 hour stretches.  For the past 5 days, he has not slept longer than ONE hour staight at a time. I KNOW this is not normal!! I am talking about day or night  He will fall asleep and usually wake up within minutes,  Fussing and crying soon commence, and i try to feed him (even tho i may have just finished).

I have tried everything i can think of to calm him and get him to sleep.  I am desperate.  I go back to work tomorrow, and I am about to just call it quits and give him formula,  but i know if I do I won't be able to go back.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks.  I am feeling better after hearing from so many moms who supplement with fornula.  This is my fourth baby and the longest i have ever gone with BFing, and i was so proud, but supplementing (starting today) has made me feel a bit of a failure.  But you all are making me feel better. = )

My DD is also supplemented with formula.  I give her 1 formula bottle through the night.  There are days where she too is up every hour at night.  Does he sleep with you??  In order to maintain your sanity and get rest you may have to co-sleep for a bit until he gets onto a better routine.  You don't have to have him in bed right from the start but perhaps at 3 or 4am when you are too tired and just need sleep.  I don't do it everyday with DD but there are days I bring her to bed at 4am as I do have a toddler to run after during the day too so I need my rest.

My son is breast fed and formula fed. As long as your son switches between bottle and breast supplementing is an option. Lochlyn goes between the two without any problem. The only time he has a preference is for the breast when he doesn't feel well.
