Alright ladies, embarrassing question (TMI)
Last night after DH and I BD'ed I went pee, and I noticed when I wiped a small amout of pink on the toilet paper, I didn't think anything of it, and I thought I was spotting from sex until I looked in the toilet and there was a chunk of what I THINK was my mucus plug. It was off-white in color, and had pink through it, with darker pink dots through it. Is this my mucus plug? It wasn't a HUGE chunk, but every time I've peed since there has been a little more of it in the toilet.
My questions are;
Is this my mucus plug?
Could sex have caused my mucus plug to come out?
Is it normal to have pink discharge when you lose part of your mucus plug?
And should I call my doctor and let him know?

Kim- I def will. I honestly just hope most of my stuff is done at home so when I go in and have him it's like a 5 min ordeal.....I wish! Keep me posted too!

My friend had her baby over the weekend and she lost her plug over about a weeks time, so it could be it. I'm with you on wanting something to happen. I am due in 7 days and had a trip to L&D last night which only proved that my cervix is still CLOSED! I wonder how quickly it can change though - I'm getting miserable. Who knows we might have a little Dameon sooner than later :-)
Kim- Good luck, My app is tomorrow so I'm getting checked. Hopefully I'm more than 1cm The reason I'm hoping is the more you do on your own the less work during labor! I want my lil man to be as healthy as possible I'm just hoping for a nice delivery! Let me know what happens!

It stopped now! How disappointing haha - I'm going to have my doctor check me at my regular appt. on Wednesday, hopefully something has changed!!
Sounds like it was definitely your mucus plug, or at least a big part of it. Maybe just mention it to your OB at your next appointment but I dont think a special call is necessary unless you continue to bleed or obviously if you start having signs of labor. I lost my plug about a week or so before labor but I know some women go into labor right after loosing it, it just depends. I know it's exciting though lol I keep checking the toilet every time I go potty.
Semen contains prostaglandins which can help soften and ripen the cervix. Orgasms release oxytocin which help the uterus to contract as well as increase the intensity of your contractions. Of course the concentrations of prostaglandins and oxytocin that occur naturally in the body are not like what the hospitals give you syntheically for inducing labor.
I am overdue and so far these "natural" methods of inducing labor have not released my mucus plug ;-)

Jenkaye - Exactly! I don't care if he comes late, just the fact that something is changing is exciting haha!
I have never seen my mucus plug, but it sure sounds like that is what it is! Still, labor could be days or weeks away, but at least there's *something* going on, right?!

My sister told me my doctors office doesn't even check you until you go in, about to deliver, so I'm telling him when I go wednesday I want to be checked. I'm pretty sure it was a part of my mucus plug. Let's hope things are progressing as they should be!
If it is your mucus plug it will be chunky there is no way of not knowing it is. Sex doesn't cause it usually to happen. It may just be your body getting ready for labor in the next few wks. You are around the week where it will start to happen. I would give your dr's off a call tomorrow or wait until you see them this week and let them know. It can happen a few times too. With all my kids I lost it over a few wks not right away. Don't be suprised if you see more. I will be waiting to see how much more you have dilated, I say you are about 3 now and almost 50 % effaced. I can't wait to see if I'm right!

sounds like it....im curious to hear the other ladies response cuz if sex did cause that then i better start getting busy lol..... i just feel so fat and lazy and not in the mood for it all..... i bet u will be havin your baby real soon!!! so lucky!!!
