Rejecting bottles since we started foods?

OK, we started Layla on foods at 5.5 months and it took her a good week or two to really get the hang of it, but now its like she doesnt want a full bottle anymore. For example, we feed her at 9pm, she goes to sleep, wakes up at 8am and then will drink about 4 oz before she opens her mouth and lets the nipple just hang there, lol. THEN she will start crying about 10 mins later and still refuse the rest of the bottle. Well I finally thought, maybe i will try baby food and so she was screaming and screaming and then as soon as i opened the jar, she shut up and opened her mouth! Its been like that serveral times already...its like she isnt interested in her formula anymore and just wants solids. Its kind of like she just drinks her bottle for thirst, and wants food to eat (like a normal person, lol). Anyway, I am not giving solids first, i am giving the bottle first, so i know she isnt too full to drink it, its just like she prefers the food over the milk. So are any of your kids starting to get like this? And is it ok, bc i know they are supposed to have formula for nutrition until 1 yr. She is drinking about 4 oz of formula every 4 hours 4 times a day, so that equals to about 16 oz. Any ideas? Oh, by the way, she will be 7 mos on the 18th.

Agree wit h ladybugbob, keep trying different ways try after solids or try offering formula every 2 hours or 3 hours and see what happens. Try not feed the whole baby solid food jar and see what happens.

Hye girl!  Cash is doing the same thing kind of.  My ped told me that he still needs at least 24 oz of formula a day until he's a year old.  I do food first and the bottle and Cash wouldn't want his bottle, so I started doing the bottle about an hour after his food and he does much better, but still will only drink 5 oz at that time.  He used to drink five 6oz bottles a day (30oz in a 24 hour period).  Now he does 7oz and then 3 hours later baby food and cereal and then an hour later 5oz.  Three and 1/2 hours later he does 6oz and then three and 1/2 hours later we do baby food and cereal again.  About one to two hours after that we do an 8 oz and then off to bed.  This is just recently though.  It happened at the same time that I upped his intake of baby food.  We were only giving him half a tub of baby food and 1 tablespoon of cereal twice a day, but he started getting mad when we were out of food, so now he happily eats an entire tub of baby food and 2 tablespoons of cereal twice a day.  This is when he started being less interested in food.  My pedi says as long as he gets 24oz down in a 24 hour period then we are good bc it is normal for the baby to take less formula as they take more food, but that they still need the formula as ther NUMBER ONE source of nutrition.
I am gald I'm not alone though! LOL!
