I asked yesterday and he said just the one. He siad that my next visit, which I will be 34 weeks in two weeks, is when he will start with the internals. UGH...I hate them, especially when you are so big. But he also said that if all is well and the baby is ok, he may induce me a little early? Is this normal? I am due the 4th of July and supposed to have a vaginal delivery.
Hey there I know here in Boston you have one at either 29 or 30 wks and I had one today. They did it to check his weight and lung activity etc. Also to check my cervix. I would ask your dr when youa er having another one or if not. Every dr has a different way of practicing medicine. It seems the dr's here cover their tracks alot more and refuse to sit back when it comes to pregnancy! Let me know what happens!

I agree that just one or two is normal. My OB even told me he does more than the norm because he likes to and he thinks they are fun lol he doesn't bill insurance for the extra ones either. The one I had at 6 weeks was to determine my DD and the one at 8 weeks was because the baby seemed small at 6 weeks, my 12 weeker was just for fun and then obviously the 20 week.
I think just one ultrasound is "normal", unless there's a problem or a reason to have another. If your pregnancy is high-risk you'll have more. But, otherwise, one is the norm. I had just one with my first...I had two with my second because he was measuring big. This time, I'm high risk due to age and gestational diabetes, and I have them every four weeks. It's actually kind of a pain!

Some people wont have another one, it depends on your dr. and what your insurance covers. My old OB only did one u/s and that was at 20 weeks. My OB now has done 4 so far and he said we will do another later on to make sure that my little guy turns. I would just ask your OB if you will be getting another.
Yeah - Kimberlee is probably right. My dr. said the same thing. I got lucky in that when you have your one hour wait for the glucose screening they let you go to the ultrasound tech to have a "sneak peak" at your baby to pass the time. That would have been the last one I had except that bc of the beta blocker I'm on we have to watch baby's development carefully so I get them more often now.
I asked this question too, and the response was that probably not again til very close to the end :[..
