anemia.

well last thursday i went in to have my glucose and my iron levels checked.
&& yesterday the doctors office called me and told me that everything
with the gestational diabetes came out negative but that my iron was low
&& that that meant i was anemic. and she is going to prescribe my some iron supplements
but my question is is there any thing that i should be worried about and what foods should i eat to increase my iron.

I have to take iron supplements as well.

In my first pregnacy I had to as well.  I can not take them everyday though because they make my stomach upset or make me constipated...so I take them every other day.

I haev always been border-line anemic and suspect that my iron is low during this pregnancy (though it hasn't been confirmed by a blood-work).

Last week I was feeling really wiped out and thought it might be due to low iron, so I took some iron supplements that I had.  Within half an hour, I was vomiting.  I had not thrown up AT ALL during my pregnancy, so I was like WHAT??  I finally realized it was from the iron supplement.

Doing some research online, I found out that this is common.  So, if/when you start taking supplements, be aware that they may cause nausea and vomiting.  I even took mine with food and it did not help.

I will NOT be taking those anymore!  Instead, I am trying to get more iron in my diet (red meat, leafy greens, eggs- I think?)

Good luck!  I know having low iron can make you feel VERY tired...

I am also anemic but I have had problems with anemia before I got pregnant. I know red meats like beef and others are a good source, liver but pregnant women aren't supposed to eat that, beans, there are and a lot of other stuff I can't think of them all but if you look up iron rich foods I am sure you can find some websites
