bedtime bottle.

Girls I need suggestions, we need to throw the bottle away and get James to drink from a sippy cup, the way does not like it and hates water. Any ideas how to do it, we are going nuts and are welcoming any suggestions.

Cooper still doesn't like a regular sippy but loves a straw, so we got the spill-proof sippies with a straw.  I give him his milk out of them at mealtimse-- he loves milk!-- and in between meals, I offer water.  Sometimes he likes it, sometimes he doesn't, but he drinks a full cup of milk at every meal, so he gets plenty to drink.
I would just offer the sippy or straw at bedtime, don't give him a bottle, it's the sippy or nothing, and see what happens.  Hopefully it will go better than you expect!

thanks ladies, I think that we tried almost every one of these ideas for about two months but he still refuses it, maybe I am just stressing out way to much about it. I think I am going to keep trying and encourage him to drink from the cup and at night I am goign just to try and take the bottle away liek kaprovea suggested.
Will see, just time will know for sure.

I agree with kaprovea, try the straw, Medina liked that much more than the sippy cup but now she is also really good with the sippy. We have Tommee Tippe ones they are fantastic, the Avent ones are OK. Try some diluted juice. Medina never got the bottle from me so in this respect it was rather easy for us. Good luck. Don't stress, everything comes in due time :-)

I agree w Kap. I gave it to Jeremy w apple or white grape juice. Jeremy likes to tip it upside down so lately I have been giving him his bottle . He's too active and I don't want him to dehydrate. I try to give him the cup with every meal. I use the nuby one Jeremy likes the nipple on it ! It will happen.

Hugs,
AP

Well when I started Joel on sippy cups I filled it up with water but since he doesn't like water I would suggest mayb 1/2 apple juice and 1/2 water.  I took out the plug thing that prevents it from flowing out freely for a week until he got the idea that there was water/juice in it.  I would just offer that at every mealtime and after a couple bites of food would poor the water/juice into his mouth.  Once he gets the idea just give him the sippy.  I just wouldn't let him have the bottle and just throw it away so he has to drink out of the sippy .. He will get the idea that there is no other thing that he is going to get.  He may be holding out for the bottle.  Also you could try giving him a sippy cup that has the straws.  He may like this better than a regular sippy cup.  Joel just loves to drink out of a straw.
