birth plan

I am so super excited to be in my 3rd trimester now :-) but that means it is time to make a birthing plan. Was looking for experiences (good and bad) with having a natural birth or trying to have a natural birth and then changing for any reason.

I agree with Lesley be bcI went in for my second birth expecting a easy pregnancy and she took ten hours even with with dilation meds and she still wasn't ready, the doctor begged me to get the epidural so eventually I agreed to it.  Right after she came out because I relaxed.

I did some research on positions and different ways of dealing with pain but that all went out the window pretty quick lol I went in knowing i was gonna get an epideral and it couldnt come fast enough! here its standard to get induced at 10 days over so i had a date booked but got bumped to the 11th day which turned out to be just as busy so i didnt get the cervadli till 815 pm after being there all day waiting... anyway the contractions kicked in pretty hard by 11 pm and then in no time they were constant with no breaks at all! i had shoot pain down both my legs sometime around 330 we went back to the hospital for some pain medication (morphine/gravol) which helped a bit for a couple hours but it didnt last long at all and it was back to horrible and to top it off i had no progress at all! again at 7 i was check and still no progress even tho it was constant contractions....then i got to go into the tub sometime around 9ish? and it was the best relief i had yet! i would totally reccomend getting into the water! it didnt take it all away but it was better for sure... anyway eventually i got out and honestly the pain was so bad everywhere and in my legs i didnt think i could walk down the hall a bit to get to a wheelchair... but i made it and at 11 i got the great news that i could go to L&D and get my epideral!!! it was heaven...took every last bit of pain away! then later in the afternoon they broke my water, it was really green, they started me on pitocin and i stopped dialating at 7cm...my daughter never dropped... anyway as a last resort at 1030 pm i went for a c section  and it turns out her head was arched back, and she was face up so her head never engaged and the whole time the back of her head was being pushed into my spine which makes sense on the sharp constant shooting pain down my legs, back pain and why i wasnt progressing....so always go in with an open mind as there is just so much that you may not have control over! oh and she was 9lbs 2oz :) and her head was in the 95th percentile :) and stil is on that note lol

I had great hopes of going completely natural with my first, but when my doc started checking me at my appts for dialating, he could feel the baby.bouncing back up..after a few checks like that, he ordered an u/s to see what was going on!! Well, the cord was wrapped around her neck and was stopping her from engaging into the birth canal..had to have a c-section..come to find out, cord was wrapped 3 times around her neck! Plus my doc said my cord was shorter than normal as well. My experience wasn't bad, just not anything like I had planned!! :-) best wishes hun..

I went completely natural with my son with back labour. I read up a TON about ways to handle labour. The Bradley Method was something that helped me.
I will probably do the same this time only I want to make use of like the yoga ball and possibly try the tub.
